Great job by the Bears tonight.

Matt Forte looked good.

I think I'm most excited about how NO ONE went down with an injury today. Last year was so depressing.

This is a completely different team when Mike Brown is healthy. I want Moose to lose his head this weekend.

Well Kyle's not a lot of fun to watch, but I can live with 0 INTs for a while.

How long are they going to be able to keep Mike Brown away from the line of scrimmage? It doesn't seem natural for him to play just one part of the field.

Running backs with quickness & vision! What a concept. Forte got his big welcome to the NFL hit out of the way & came right back.

Go Bears!

Pretty solid all around. Only stipulations for me would be the O-line is still weak, Vasher was always a step behind, and Hester was...terrifying.

Very unexpected win.

Good win, wish that Kreutz was better and that they can get rid of the terrible penalties that kill them. Also need Orton to be more proactive and then they got something.

It would be easy to say we won this because Manning wasn't up to speed and the line was missing their pro-bowl center in Jeff Saturday but I'm sure the Colts aren't making those excuses right now.

I know I've been as critical of the Bears as anyone this offseason but, TRUST ME, it doesn't make me any less of a Bears fan and I enjoy these wins as much as anyone.

Quick hits :

- I'm liking when the Bears use Hester as a decoy on offense and bring him around to make it look like an end-around is coming when they actually run a straight hand off to Forte. Defenses HAVE to respect that even if they never did actually give it to Hester. At some point they will.
- Two goofs by Hester in this game. Let a punt bounce in front of him and roll when it was catchable (I see this a lot) and then there was the kickoff he should have downed in the end zone. Got cute. Still, he was responsible for great field position even when they were avoiding him.
- FORTE. Enough said. When given room to roam, he can do things. Good vision to the second level of defenders and good balance. What a hit he took from Sanders !
- Defense knocked out Addai (thank you, Lance Briggs) and Clark (not sure who was responsible for that one).
- Props to the coaches for coming up with the defensive wrinkle that had our linebackers and often our safeties playing on the line so Manning didn't know where the rush was coming from. Colts quickly abandoned the run and that's a recipe for disaster when you become one-dimensional.
- Props to Dungy for awful decisions. Punting to Hester means you're either stupid or have a punter that can't corner kick. Two challenges that weren't even close calls and a 4th down try that handed the game to the Bears when a punt would've done just fine.
- As you may have noticed from the game thread, I thought the officiating was atrocious. Missed holds on Dvoracek and Harrison that were just obvious calls - one on a would-be sack and another on a sack. The hands to the face against Urlacher. The fumble that wasn't on the Colts kick return. It's hard enough to beat the Colts on their home field but to beat the Colts and the refs ? Kudos, Bears !
- That "weak" o-line did the job. I can't say I focused on any one player - that's tough to do and still watch what's happening with the ball and I don't feel like replaying the game right now to just watch the line play but Orton is still alive and Forte ran wild so that's good enough for me!
- Ogunleye, Brown, Harrison, and Dvoracek all impressed me at different points in the game. Great job by the d-line tonight.
- Tillman and Vasher still worry me. Heck, the SECONDARY worries me outside of Mike Brown. Seems like there were more plays than I'd like that could've been game changers had the receiver not dropped the ball, put a foot out of bounds, or had Manning just been a little more accurate.
- Loving the Olsen and Clark tandem at TE.
- I said it in the game thread but it bears repeating. The Colts stadium is exactly what the Bears should have - would've been GREAT for attracting Super Bowls and the Olympics. The redesigned Soldier Field was a very short-sighted move by Daley and company.

And that's all I have to say about that....

Good win, Bears ! Who would've thunk it ?

My favorite part about the game was that we blew out the Colts and Devin Hester didn't play well. I don't know if our defense/offense will be as good in the weeks to come, but I do know that Hester will play better. The fact that we beat the Colts by this much with Hester doing little is a great testament to our offense and defense.

I also like our new running back, I think that running is his forte.

Benson in 3 years never had a run of 50 yards and only had 2 100 yard games.

Benson had a 48 yarder against the Lions, I believe.

Wow, can't say I expected this. I'm kind of in shock. 4 big plays won this game. The run by Forte. The safety by Ogunleye. The strip by Peanut and runback by Briggs. The fourth down stop by Ogunleye. I think by far Peanut's strip was the biggest play.

Still have doubts, especially about the offense, but I have to tip my hat to the guys for a job well done. Let's hope that Forte is the real deal!

I don't have any stats to back this up, but it seemed like the vast majority of 3rd downs were very short. Lots of 3rd and 1, 3rd and 2. Orton did a good job picking up little pieces of yardage here and there, and left the big plays to Forte and to the defense.

One other thing nobody's mentioned, but the playcall to Forte on that 55-yard run was genius. Something like 3rd and 6 - the Colts had NO idea a quick handoff was coming, and it set the tone of the game for us.
