Benson to the Lions?

News 8 Austin is reporting that the Lions have agreed to terms with free agent RB Cedric Benson.
No word yet on Benson's expected role with the Lions, but we suspect they've soured on stutter-stepping Rudi Johnson as Kevin Smith's backup. Benson is probably not a threat to Smith's starting job. He could work his way into some type of committee work, but he's going to have show more burst than he did with the Bears in 2007.

Stolen from A.J on the General NFL board.

They can have him. I don't think anyone here misses him or would want him back ahead of Forte or Jones, and probably not even ahead of Peterson or Wolfe.

So they finally realized that Rudi Johnson sucks? Sorry Detroit but Benson probably won't be any better. Cliff Levingston hears that Tatum Bell is looking for a job though.

I don't think he's signed yet. They brought both Benson and Alexander in. This certainly looks to be a sign about Rudi.

Two opportunities a season for us to take Benson's head off
I love it
