I'm feeling pretty confident.

KO can manage da gamez, and make da playez.

Kind of worried about Micheal Turner next week. Everybody else on that team. Not so much

The Bears offense was very productive. Some of that credit has to be given to the Detroit defense, but even without Lloyd, Orton threw for 300+ yards. Forte looked good but the offensive line sucked and the Bears called some obvious run plays.

The defense was very good without Vasher or Harris, and Detroit wouldn't have scored had it not been for Hester's fumble. Again I don't want to get too excited over a dominating performance because this was the Lions, but the Bears are in first place at 3-2.

I might even be a Kyle Orton convert if this keeps up.

He's at least earned the right to have one stinker without me complaining about him.

Given the way the Bears have played so far, you'd have to make them the favorite to win the division right now. The Bears are only a game better than the Pack, but they could have easily won both their losses, and you could argue should have won both those games, and they've had a very tough opening schedule with only Detroit being a creampuff on the schedule. Tampa, Carolina, Philly, and Indy are all good teams.

If Green Bay can't get their running game going (Ryan Grant has been awful this season) then I don't see them winning this division.

I'd like to mention we didn't really pick it up until I posted the Jennifer Love-Hewitt good luck charm in the game thread. Timely.

I really didn't think we could do this well with all the injuries. I don't know that we're as good as the score indicated today but it sure looked like the Lions were that bad.

Not sure if it was Tillman or Graham but kudos to whoever had Calvin Johnson for the majority of the game. He's been putting up big numbers this season and he had all of 2 catches for 16 yards today. I'm sure it helped that the Lions seemed insistent on getting Roy Williams the ball - even after the drops and childish temper tantrums.

It was good to see our defense get some pressure on the QB. Ogunleye, Brown, Harrison, and Briggs all applied good pressure at different times. Kitna and his backup (I'm not looking up the spelling) took some niiiiice licks.

The o-line and Hester's returns were the only real downers for me in this game, if you want to be picky (and I do). Orton didn't have decent time again unless we went to max-protection schemes and Forte didn't have a lot of space to do anything. The o-line needs attention early and often in the offseason. Hester seems intent on dancing around and going to the short side of the field and doesn't seem close to breaking one. Last year, every return seemed to have that potential at least. This year.....not so much. At least he showed us something as a receiver in his first start there.

And kudos to Orton on his career day. Keep it up, neckbeard.

is that when a receiver catches a 10yard pass and runs it out for another 15?
Or is that actually passes thrown over 20 yards?

 its just eating you up inside

Looks like we have to recalculate it for everyone in the league .Mcnabb has a td pass for 90 yards so do you really think he threw the ball 90 yards ?

If he sustains his mediocre dink dunk level of play Orton will have put together the best QB season for a bear since Erik Kramer went nutz in 95 and it will be with castoff receivers and patchwork O-line.

Orton is on pace for roughly 3500+ yards, 22 TDs, and 13 INTs. If he actually puts up around those numbers up this year I'd be okay with us not drafting a QB early next draft.

Our pass defense shortcomings are grossly over exaggerated. We give up yardage, yeah, but that's because teams pass on us a lot more because they can't run on us. We've held opponent's QBs to an average QB rating of 68.6, 4th lowest number in the league.

So then the Kyle Mannings/Neckbeard bunch cant use that as a "...see i told you he can throw the long ball" argument? because he still can't, right?

Orton did a good job of going Vertical in this game, and a good job in the 1st half against Philly, prior to that, he was getting all of his big plays through YAC, but the past 2 weeks he's thrown a lot of long passes on the money. Granted, this week against the Lions he was just nailing guys who were wide open, but it's very reassuring that he's now completing those throws, because he wasn't early in the season nor earlier in his career.

The Bears line is doing an amazing job so far relative to what we'd have expected. Especially this week Orton had a ton of time to make his throws and the receivers were getting open on really long routes which isn't something that can be done in 2 seconds. Orton did a great job doing his part in it and delivered the ball on target.

Also kudos to Devin Hester who finally had a good day catching the ball after dropping a lot of catchable balls earlier this season that would have been big plays. Davis played a little better too, but still had a drop on a ball he should have had.

Despite the complaints about our defense, it's been pretty sick this year so far. They struggled in the 2nd half of two games, but the offense really really hurt them in those games. If the Bears offense was as good as the defense they'd be teh best team in the league. Granted, no one expects the Bears offense to be that good given that we aren't paying anyone on offense big bucks or anything, but I'm happy with our defense.

I'm actually very happy with our offense too. Forte has proven he's the real deal, and Orton has shown he can do well enough to beat teams when they try to stop the run too. Lloyd looks very good, and Hester took a big step forward this week, even Olsen is looking a bit better.

But he has thrown long strikes .That first one to Olsen was over 30 yards and got turned into a a 50 yarder.

Hes averaging 220 passing yards per game thats more than Rex in the SB year .

Hes on pace to throw just as many td passes also but fewer ints

His QB rating is a balmy(for bears QBs) 87

Hes gotten his yards per pass up over 7

If you check Ortons and the bears offensive numbers against the rest of the league they are doing great

If you compare Orton and the bears offense to 06 they are on pace to surpass those which is astonishing considering how low everyone had them rated

The bears have maybe stumbled onto a franchise QB who they can further develop. It will be interesting to see where Orton is graded when the season ends .
