LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The NFL has suspended Bears guard Terrence Metcalf for four games for violating the league’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.

The seventh-year pro from Mississippi is eligible to return to the team on Monday, Nov. 17 after missing games against the Vikings, Lions, Titans and Packers.

Can we please fire Lovie. He's been awful these past 2 years. Just throwing that out here in this thread.

Is it the coaching thats responsible for a player to use 'roids??? Not really sure. But I definitely agree with you in regards to Lovie and his overly laid back approach. Him and Babich need to go big time. Ridding ourselves of Ron Rivera was obviously a mistake! I'm all for brining in Rivera and Singletary, guys who would tell their players to go smash the opponents until their black and blue in the face.

Nah he has nothing to do with the steroids. I could care less about Terrance Metcalf. Just posted this in the wrong thread (meant to put it in the game thread) that's why I added the last sentence. Should have just deleted it
This is going to be a good thing though. Get Chris Williams on the field ASAP.

I was a fan of Lovie when we hired him, and while we micromanage every decision he's made, I think the Bears have been quite good under Smith especially given the offensive talent on the roster.

2004 - 5-11 (given where he started from, who cares?)
2005 - 11-5 (turns around the team in one year with an excellent season)
2006 - 13-3 (obviously an awesome season with a superbowl appearance)
2007- 7-9 (team absolutely decimated by injuries as multiple pro-bowl caliber players are out or playing through significant injuries)
2008 - 3-3 (3 heart breaking losses, but most people predicted this team would suck balls, so 500 exceed expectations of preseason and we could state we might be playing better than that record)

Bear in mind, I'm not sure if there was ever a point you could say this team had elite talent either. Certainly never on offense (or even close). We've probably had elite defensive talent when everyone is healthy and clicking, but Harris has never stayed healthy for long stretches, Urlacher has been banged up for long periods, and Brown has been out for the whole season a couple of times.

I think people often look at the little picture too much with Lovie and when he leaves, I think there's a good chance things will get a lot worse.

Do you think the team has known about this for a long time given that Metcalf hasn't really played?? They certainly are good at hiding things, ie Williams injury.
