OT: Samurai Mike Press Conference

Post#1 » by Chewie » Mon Oct 27, 2008 5:50 am

As much as I like Lovie, I do miss it when Ditka would give post-game press conferences before cooling down first. Samurai Mike's first post-game press conference as the head coach of the 49ers reminded me of that. ESPECIALLY the comments about Vernon Davis after Mike told him to hit the clubhouse then had him come back and pick up his helmet THEN leave the field. :rofl2:

Love it. You go, Mike.

What I wouldn't give to have him as our defensive coordinator next year!

Yeah, I don't have a good feeling as to whether or not they're looking at Singletary as an interim solution (which could possibly free him up in the off season) or if he's going to be there for the long haul. I imagine a lot depends on how the rest of the season shakes out. I'm not sure if I've seen a coach just kick a player off the field during a game, though.

I don't know if his type of style is going to work in this decade but I hope I'm wrong. I loved that press conference and I think more coaches should be just like that instead of babying players so they can even have a larger ego.

I wonder how he would've reacted if TO was still with them

Can't imagine what he would have done with Tillman.

I always wanted Mike. I wished we had him. He's going to be a great coach. :(

I do believe there is a difference between slapping an opposing team's player and jumping in a scuffle to protect a teammate.

I love that press conference. That is the type of football coach every team needs to have. One who keeps the players in line but at the same time there is a strong respect for each other.

Going onto a different topic, Vernon's brother is going to be a great NFL player.

They got blown out by the Hasselbackless Seahawks. They're tuning him out so fast it's not even funny.

Uhh...what?
Singletary dropped pants at halftime to make point to 49ers
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3673441
The San Francisco 49ers were losing badly through 30 minutes of play on Sunday against the Seahawks. And interim coach Mike Singletary pulled no punches during his first halftime speech -- but he did pull down his pants.

A team spokesman Thursday confirmed a report by Arizona radio station XTRA's Mike Jurecki that Singletary dropped his pants in front of his team at halftime.

"He was just dramatizing how embarrassing it was," 49ers director of public relations Aaron Salkin said.

The halftime talk went something along the lines of "We're getting our tails whipped out there, now let's get back out there," according to Salkin.

Sooooo....you have to show the team your @ss to demonstrate how they're getting their tails whipped? You lost me, Mike. He's going to start losing their respect if keeps on singling out players and dropping trou. Could be a short head coaching career for #50.
