Boy oh boy, it is just never easy, is it? The Bears could easily be 4-0 against the South, currently 1-3, and were almost 0-4.

Glad we pulled it out . We didnt run the ball enough I think Turner heard Forte was injured and decided to get pass happy. The saints have the 27th ranked pass defense we shouldve tried to go to Hester more if we were gonna pass it but also we have no wideouts besides Hester to take advantage of our wanting to be pass happy.

Not a good day. A good friend of mind had a bs article posted about his job in the State Journal Register. Stupid insurance adjusters continue by their actions to lead me to believe they are the lowest form of lying scum in existence in the world. Yet the Bears win, and somehow, even though they sucked in doing so and are no way a Super Bowl contender, life is better.

Glad to come out with a win. Orton had a pretty crap game, but played well in the final drive.

Bears got lucky with that last pass interference call, it looked like a really bad call to me. However, we got screwed over with the call in the end zone where we didn't get the call, so I figured it was a make up.

Man that was a crazy game!!! So relieved for the W... I was startin to get sad/pissed thinkin our season was over... That pass interference call at the end was right cause dude never turned his head for the ball, plus the makeup factor for that muggin in the end zone so i'll take it...

If that wasn't Orton changing plays at the line towards the end, Turner's play calling was horrible. Throwing on 1st and 2nd down when you have a good RB and the lead? Stupid. The second throw turns into a pick. Just dumb.

Other than that, the D was good. Not great. It's hard to really judge this D when the offense puts them in crappy positions.

The refs seemed to suck today as well. The no call on the Olsen play, and there was one other call that was terrible that I can't remember.

Well, IF the Vikes lose this week, we are in for one hell of a big matchup with the Pack - which is all you can ask for as a Bears fan. Should be fun. Go Cards!

Random thoughts from the game...

After the 4th down stop, Bears take the ball around midfield with about 5:30 left in the game and a 21-17 lead. RUN THE F'ING BALL!! We supposedly "get off the bus running." This is Chicago in December for hell sakes. Run 3 times and punt. Worst case scenario, Saints have the ball around their own 20 with under 3 minutes left needing to drive the length of the field. Horrible play calling.

Hester really played a great game at receiver, other receivers...suck. We really need another receiver. Twice Orton missed him wide open deep. Overthrew him in the first quarter, underthrew him in OT (luckily we got the PI call).

Speaking of Pass Interference, the mugging of Olsen in the end zone is one of the worst missed pass interference calls I have ever seen. Another missed call, I really thought AP caught that ball on the fake punt. Sweet pass by Maynard.

Anthony Adams has me saying...Dusty who? AA has played great two weeks in a row.

I thought Kevin Jones would play this week since Wolfe is out, was Jones even dressed? The coaches must have zero confidence in him.

Manning has become a dangerous north south kick returner. How bout Hester's punt return for minus 10 yards? That was so bad it made me laugh.

I almost feel bad for the Saints having to come play in Chicago 3 years in a row very late in the year. If we ever have to go to the dome, I think they will whoop our ass.

Good post, dingo - I agree with everything you said.

What's funny is if you take away the Bears' mistakes - bad Kruetz snap, Davis drop, and Orton pick - the Saints end up with nothing this game.

The play of Anthony Adams has me wondering why he was an inactive for most of the season. He looks like he belongs.

The one thing I'll say about the Bears not running the ball is this.

You run three times give them the ball with three minutes left and a full field, and the way our defense has played all year in the clutch, the Saints will drive the field score a TD and leave us with about 10 seconds left on the clock.

I think we needed to be aggressive about getting first downs, so I have no problem coming out and throwing the ball. The fact that we got intercepted was obviously a problem, but I don't think the decision was that bad. We've lost several games this season by getting ultra conservative at the end of games and hoping our defense could stop a team that had to go 90 yards on us.

I always complain that our coaches coach scared. Well, the last couple of weeks I have to say that isn't the case. I loved going for it on 4th & Goal against the Vikes. I love that we didn't run 3 times & punt in the 4th qtr against the saints. I would have been furious if we ran 3 times and had to punt!

Forgot about that fake punt. That pass was on the money. Chris Collinsworth can explain the rule to me 100 times but that should be a catch. If the rules say otherwise, the rules should be changed. AP caught the ball and came down with it and didn't release it until after he was down for a good second. I don't care if his second foot didn't touch the ground before he got hit. Dumb rule.

All that being said, Peterson has shown me this season he clearly is not someone we should be throwing to.

I don't think Peterson was the first option. I think he was more of the "oh my GOD everybody's covered!" option. But still nice pass.

I saw my avatar flash before my eyes when Orton got sacked with a couple seconds left. But the emperor lives on for another week!

...by the way, Gray will be making his 4th straight start for the Bulls tonight. If so, and given VDN statements about Noah, I say he is the starting center and its not 12/31/08 yet

Don't get me wrong, I'm in favor of going for the throat and not just punting back to the Saints. The pass plays, however, were not aggressive. First down was a swing out to the fullback who would have got 2-3 yards at best and also possibly knocked out of bounds to stop the clock. Second down was no more aggressive with a 5 yard cross to the TE that was picked off.

I said running 3 times and punting was a worst case scenario. I think there is a good chance Forte would have moved the chains. You're telling me a flair pass to the fullback is aggressive? The Saints D was not stacked up to stop the run, they were in their base D with a a deep safety to protect Hester from getting deep. Forte is our best player and with the game on the line put it in his hands! If we run on first and second we're probably looking at 3rd and 4 or less which gives us plenty of options to try to move the chains.

Lovie so badly wants the identity of this team to be a running team, then do it. Let our O Lineman fire off in that situation and pound their asses with Forte.

Bottom line, we led almsot the entire game. We ran 62 plays on offense, and only 20 were running plays! That is a joke. We let the Saints hold the ball for over 36 minutes in the game.
