Word.
He's missed some games due to injury but he started 14 of 16 last year for the Rams and this allows newly acquired Kevin Shaffer to be the swing tackle if he can't beat out Chris Williams at RT. Not sure if Pace will be here for the back end of that deal but I like it. Was reading where a scout said Pace was still performing at a pro-bowl level as a pass protector but the fire wasn't as apparent on the run blocking.
The offense is going to look so different next year and I couldn't be happier. Forte, Olsen, and Hester in particular should thrive with the changes.

3 years $15 million. He basically got Tait's money. JA has set this offense up nicely. The O-Line is set for a while if we select a Guard in the 3rd or 4th. If we go WR in the 2nd round, I'm very happy. Good job jerry

That line looks much improved.

Cliff Levingston recalls Omiyale playing over Garza in the mini-camp, so if anything, it'd be:
LT- Pace
LG- Beekman
C- Kreutz
RG- Omiyale
RT- Williams
With Shaffer and Garza as qualit backups. That's a lot better than what we had last year provided Pace can stay healthy.

Omiyale was in Beekmans LG spot during camp, I thought.
Either way, all four of Garza, Beekman, Omilaye, and Buenning can compete for the two spots. I'd like Beekman and Omiyale the best, but may the best man win!

Buenning could be the darkhorse at RG. I think Beekman will be groomed to be the next C.
Great signing. The depth is nice. I also like that this will probably keep Omiyale at LG and not have to be the swing tackle.
I like emperor jones' idea of WR 2nd and another OL in the 3rd or 4th. I think we sign Holt though and probably look later rounds on a project WR so that they can focus on some defensive upgrades with our 2nd.
Either way great day and very surprising.

Article on Pace:
Orlando Pace should shore up Chicago Bears at tacklehttp://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ch ... 0710.storyLost in the hysteria of the Jay Cutler trade Thursday was the Bears' acquisition of another player with Pro Bowl credentials.
Veteran left tackle Orlando Pace, who the Rams released last month after 12 seasons in St. Louis, agreed to a three-year, $15 million contract with the Bears. He will be paid $6.1 million for the 2009 season, according to a league source.
Pace, a seven-time Pro Bowler, is expected to start at left tackle next season and allow Chris Williams, last year's first-round pick, to shift to right tackle.
"Orlando looks at this as a tremendous opportunity, to continue his career with such a historic franchise," agent Kennard McGuire said. "He just feels like this is the perfect situation for him."
