Available veteran free agent backup QB

I think most would agree that a proven, back up QB is a glaring need for the Bears. I like Calib Hanie's potential as much as anyone, but he has never taken an NFL snap. And honestly I know almost nothing about that guy from Norhtwestern, Brett Basanez or whatever his name is.

Names have floated around like Jeff Garcia, Byron Leftwich, Charlie Batch...decent options.

What about bringing the man, the myth, the legend back? Sexy, Rex Grossman? He should know that no one is going to sign him to start, or most likely even compete for a starting job. He knows the offense inside and out, the guys on the team like him. In my opinion he could give the Bears one of the best backup QB's in the league.

This wasn't a shred of a possibility with Orton still here, but with how much things have changed over the last 24 hours...why the hell not.

I'm officially starting the campaign...bring REX back!!

Cliff Levingston isn't part of the "most." It's a luxury, definitely not a necessity because simply; if Cutler goes down then we're f'ed no matter what, just like Indy would be without Manning and how Denver would've been last year without Cutler.

If Grossman will come back for $2 mil per season then why not? But the main focus should be on securing Holt.

There couldn't be a more true statement. But if he were to miss say 1-4 games, then it would be nice to have a guy come in who could get you a win or 2 and keep things afloat.

I agree that signing Holt should be the priority, I think Rex will be available well after the draft.

I really don't think we're screwed if we had Garcia or Leftwich in there for a few games.

We're obviously building this team to win right now so why not protect yourself and get better insurance than Hanie?

I'll pretend I didn't see that line on Grossman, Cliff.

It has a lot more to do with Cliff Levingston's near complete deemed irrelevance of the backup QB position than really wanting Rex back.

Garcia would obviously be a lot more desirable but picking up Cutler makes us a lot less desirable free agent QB location considering Cutler's ability to avoid sacks/hits... not to mention he's awesome.

I'd prefer Leftwich in here but I'm with Cliff, no need to overpay for someone just for the sake of.
