After opening their 2009 season Sept. 13 at Green Bay on NBC's national Sunday night telecast, the Bears will open their home schedule the following week against the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 20.

Although the complete NFL schedule won't be released until 6 p.m,, some details about national games are emerging. The Bears are scheduled for five prime-time games, and could get flex-scheduled into a sixth game later in the year by NBC and the NFL.

Obviously, with the addition of quarterback Jay Cutler to the team in the league's second-largest television market, they are going to be a big draw.

Currently, the Bears are scheduled to have two more appearances on NBC. They will host Philadelphia on a Sunday night and play at Atlanta on Sunday night in a rematch vs. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who crushed them in the closing seconds at the Georgia Dome last season.

The Bears also will square off vs. Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary and his San Francisco 49ers in a road game to be televised by NFL Network on a Thursday in November. Get ready for the hype for this meeting.

The Bears also will host the Minnesota Vikings on ESPN's "Monday Night Football."

More details to come.

Looks like a winner. I'm a little concerned with a bye week so early in the year because we have to play 11 consecutive games but other than that I'm loving the schedule.

I hate the start to the schedule, tough road games and home game against Pittsburgh. But hopefully the bad teams stay bad.

I'm actually glad we start of at Green Bay (Lovie will have lots of time to prepare) because they will be experimenting with a new defense and will not really be able to have a good scouting report on us. Then the Steelers at home? Our defense will be HYPED! best time to play them I think is our home opener. Much better than their home opener - LOL. If we lose early, Lovie can't give us that "we're a first place team" crap like he did last year wehen we were .500 & in first.

-Opening Sunday night will be a huge game. A road game versus a divisional rival to set the tone for the rest of the season.

-Pittsburgh will be tough, but at least we are at home. I'm still embarrassed by that loss we had a few years ago in Pittsburgh with the snow.

-Seattle is a very tough place to play but fortunately the team is declining.

-We get Philly at home again, Atlanta on the road again.

-Week 16 vs Minnesota could be a crucial game in the standings for the Bears and Vikings.
