Scouts Inc

Overall Football Traits
Production 1 2006: Moore starts nine of the12 games he appears in during his true freshman season. He records 37 tackles, intercepts a pass, breaks up two passes and forces three fumbles. Moore returns three punts for a total of seven yards and two kickoffs for a total of 26 yards. 2007: Moore starts 11 of the 12 games he appears in recording 83 tackles including two tackles-for-loss and one sack. He intercepts six passes and breaks up 10 passes. Moore returns 32 kickoffs for a total of 823 yards (25.7 yard avg.) He also contributes on offense carrying the ball six times for a total of 78 yards. 2008: Moore starts all 13 games and continues to contribute on both sides of the ball. He records 58 tackles including 4.5 tackles-for-loss including one sack. Moore intercepts six passes and breaks up seven passes. Offensively, Moore carries the ball nine times for a total of 76 yards and catches seven passes for a total of 143 yards and two touchdowns. He returns 21 kickoffs for a total of 407 yards (19.4 yard avg.) and 17 punts for a total of 244 yards (14.4 yard avg.).

Height-Weight-Speed 4 Solid build but is shorter than ideal and his 40-yard dash times both at Combine and Pro Day are disappointing.

Durability 1 Injured left ankle in second quarter of 2008 Music City Bowl but returned to the field in the second half.

Character 1 Does whatever the coaching staff asks of him and a hard worker off the field. Intelligent person and player. Member of French honors organization.

Defensive Corner specific Traits
Recognition Skills/Toughness 1 Extremely instinctive in coverage and rarely gets caught out of position. Reads receivers routes quickly and gets a great jump on the ball as a result. Shows good awareness in zone coverage and does a nice job of baiting quarterbacks. Is not afraid to get his jersey dirty.

Closing Burst 3 A quick-twitch athlete and footwork is excellent. Smoothly transitions out of backpedal and shows above-average closing burst when the ball is thrown in front of him. Plays faster than 40 time indicates but there are concerns regarding his deep recovery speed.

Fluidity 1 Fluid and naturally flips hips when asked to turn and run with receivers. Elite ability to stop and start and does a sound job of mirroring receivers in man coverage.

Ball Skills 2 Natural hands and has experience lining up at receiver. Plays the ball extremely well and does a nice job of breaking up passes without getting flagged for pass interference. However, he isn't tall enough to compete for jump balls working against bigger receivers. (See 1st quarter Georgia 2008).

Run Support 3 Is willing in run support and shows some toughness. But his tackling skills must improve, especially in the open field. Also slight concerns about ability to shed bigger receivers.

I'm guessing the 4.58 speed is what pushed him down.

Height: 5-87/8 | Weight: 192 | 40-Time: 4.53

Strengths:
Extremely athletic...Good speed with a burst to close...Very quick and agile...Smooth with fluid hips...Terrific hands and ball skills...Good leaper...Nice instincts and awareness...Real opportunistic...Tough and tries to play physical...Dangerous runner with good vision in the open field...Lots of experience versus top competition...Superb return man.

Weaknesses:
Does not have the ideal height or bulk that you look for...Can be too aggressive and gambles a lot...A sub par tackler...Needs some work when it comes to technique and footwork...Has trouble getting a jam at the line...Just average recovery speed...Will struggle to match up with big wideouts...Doesn't get off blocks real well...Durability is a concern.

Notes:
Was a three-year starter...Named 1st Team All-SEC in both 2007 and 2008...An Associated Press 2nd Team All-American as a junior...Dealt with an ankle injury that hampered him in 2008...Also saw extensive action at wide receiver for the Commodores...Capable of contributing as a punt and kick returner at the next level...A playmaker in the secondary who will make quarterbacks pay for their mistakes...Lack of size will limit his potential but could excel as a #2 or #3 cornerback.

Height/Speed combination probably not great but if he's good on film then why not.

Great pick though.

That scared me at first, but then I saw the profile below and I skimmed for one word...

WR can't get that 4.4 speed going if a corner back is physical.

In that article is says

Tough and tries to play physical

He either is, or isn't. I don't get it.

Great value pick. Because of that, you can't really argue with it. With Tillman, Vasher, Graham and now Moore (and Danieal Manning somewhat), we're pretty much set at CB.

ok from fftoolbox

In addition to his size, another possible drawback is a lack of physicality. Moore can stay with any receiver and is great at reading routes, but he can get over matched at the line of scrimmage.

Now, I'm worried. All these guys we're picking fell for good reason, we didn't hit a homerun with everybody. I think this is our lemon.

I think it's just a problem with his timed speed, when you actually watch some film/highlight whatever of him. Not only does he have great instincts but they're using him at RB, WR, PR, and I don't know how you put them in these positions if he's slow.

We'll see how he works out. At worst, maybe we have another back up nickel?

thats what I'm thinking. Good fit for it, and it sounds as if he's ready to play now.

Those of you who don't like Moore because of some writers negatives on him are stupid. WATCH him play, and realize he was a 4TH ROUNDER. Awesome value for a good player, this was our best pick in my opinion.

I think a lot of us are thrilled to get him, just merely wondering why he was there in the fourth round.

He fell for a few reasons. It's hard to be both short and slow, and he's both. Recovery speed is real lacking--once he's beat, he's beat. The one thing that was pointed out to me was that even though they had crap opposite him, teams weren't afraid to throw at him and pick on him, even as talented as he was. That says a lot when the other team isn't afraid to throw at a guy noted for having exceptional hands. He is another guy who did not help himself in the interview process.

Good value pick, esp. with the division morphing into a pass-heavy one. He can step in and will probably earn the nickel job. He kind of faded late last year but I caught a couple of his early games and he was very good in outside man coverage.

If he earns the nickel that means manning back to FS...AGAIN...
I'd like him at Nickel. From the highlights he seems to have great closing speed - or anticipates so well that it appears he has great speed.

I think there's going to be some serious competition for DB positions.

#1 CB is Tillman. For #2CB I'm sure they hope for a Vasher bounce back, but Moore and Graham will probably push with the loser likely being the nickel. Of course a loser in the S battles might also be a nickel candidate, mainly thinking Bowman or Manning in that case.

I think Payne is the SS with Alfalva likely behind him.

FS is going to be Bullocks, Bowman, Manning, and Steltz competing. Alfalva will get a look too, IMO. I think Manning could actually be alright there if they gave him a chance and didn't keep moving him all around, which I think has messed up his development so far. If he's healthy, I think Bowman could be great at FS.
