Looks like the guy with the gunslinger mentality may end up in Texas.
Former Bears quarterback Rex Grossman will make a free-agent visit to Houston on Thursday night, according to a report on ESPN.com. Agent Drew Rosenhaus told the web site he expected Grossman to sign a one-year deal. The Houston Chronicle also reported the signing.
The Chronicle's John McClain reported that the deal will be for the veteran's minimum of $745,000 and Grossman will take a physical Friday.
He is expected to compete with former Lion Dan Orlovsky for the backup job to Matt Schaub. Alex Brink is the team's fourth quarterback.
The Texans have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent quarterback Rex Grossman.
If Grossman passes his physical on Friday as expected, he will give the Texans four quarterbacks entering next week's minicamp.
Grossman, the Bears' No. 1 pick in 2003 will sign a one-year deal for the minimum $745,000.
