Would the bears be interested in Brandon Marshall of the Denver Broncos? There is news that he may be on his way out with him not being happy with his contract situation.

I know he isn't the best character guy, what with his arrests and the domestic situations, but he'd surely help our situation.

If we can get him. I think the city of Chicago would welcome him with open arms! :D

Of course the Bears would be intersted in BM.

Is it probable Denver would let us take him as well, no.

If we could pull something like that off, i would feel bad for Denver, only for a second though. We would be Dever East.

Update
Rumors Fly Of Brandon Marshall To Baltimore
Posted by Mike Florio on June 15, 2009, 6:47 p.m.

As storm clouds gather (again) in Denver between the Broncos and a high profile offensive player, rumors are flying in some circles that Marshall could land in Baltimore.

Though the obvious destination would be Chicago, where Marshall’s former quarterback now resides, the Ravens have at least explored the possibility of adding a high-impact wideout during the offseason. The Bears have yet to do so. (Then again, maybe Cutler gave them a head’s up about Marshall.).

Adam Schefter reported earlier today that Marshall has asked to be traded.

Marshall likely would command at least a first-round and a third-round draft pick, due to the trade that sent Roy Williams from the Lions to the Cowboys last year.

The move also would require a contract worth $9 million or more per year.

So it would be a huge deal for anyone to do a deal for Marshall, especially in light of his past legal troubles.

First and a Third round pick? sounds kind of pricey, dont know if we would have what it takes to get him

I would take Marshall over Boldin, he's bigger, younger, and has an established chemistry with Cutler.

Hes put up better numbers in the last few years, then most of the best recievers in the league, from when I was watching sportscenter the other day.

And with those numbers, speculation we would certainly contact them, but they will probably want a 1st Rounder for him, which we don't have.

My co-workers already hate me for asking every day if its football season yet, if we got Marshall, I might be asking multiple times a day.

We have no picks to give up for Marshall or Boldin .. Plax is our most likely candidate with my prediction being that we wait a year and pick up a go to guy next offseason

My guess is that we have the go to guy that we need & that Denver didn't really have two go to guys but really only had one solid quarterback.

WR#1 - Hester
WR#2 - Bennett
Slot - Knox

WR#4 - Iglasias

We will surely find out if Cutler can turn 2 rookies, a WR that couldn't make it onto the field last year, and a converted WR into difference makers. Cutler may be the difference without having to give up a ton to get a true #1. Having one of the best pass catching RB's from last year and two great TE's will help as well. If it doens't work next offseason we make the move.

What exactly can the Bears give up? No 1st next year, and they're not in any position to give away any on-field talent. Translate a 1st and a 3rd in on-field talent and that's Lance Briggs and a backup DB (say, Manning).

What ChronicKerr said is more likely--aggressively pursue him this offseason. The price should be lower if y'all truly believe Orton isn't any good.

Just thinking out loud, but how is the Broncos return game?

What value would Hester have in a trade? Bears could then accomodate Marshall's salary demands. but to send Hester and the 2nd Rounder, we'd need a lower pick (perhaps our old one) coming back to us.

Call me crazy, but I think that that's a great idea! Remember, the last time that we played the Broncos he returned 2 against them, and I believe had a return to midfield, so the Broncos might be high on him.

Cutler comments on the Marshall situation and the possibilities .......if presented with the Bears.

Also, a tidbit on keeping Pace with Hester.

Chicago QB Jay Cutler would be happy to throw to former Denver teammate Brandon Marshall again

By Marty O'Brien 247-4963

June 23, 2009

WILLIAMSBURG - Jay Cutler's recent addition to the Chicago Bears' roster appears to have ended almost a decade of musical chairs at quarterback in the Windy City. But a receiving corps rated average at best begs the question of who will be on the other end of Cutler's passes.

An enticing solution could be wide receiver Brandon Marshall, Cutler's former teammate in Denver. The two connected for more than 100 completions with the Broncos each of the past two seasons.

Like Cutler — traded by the Broncos to the Bears in April — Marshall wants Denver to trade him. The prospect that the Bears, who reportedly might be interested in Marshall, could bring the two Pro Bowlers back together seems to appeal to Cutler.

"I talked to 'B' a few days ago," Cutler said during an appearance Monday at William and Mary's Colonial All-Pro Football Camp. "Just checking in on him and seeing how he's doing, because I went through a similar thing that he's going through.

"I played with Brandon for three years and I think he's one of the best receivers in the NFL. I think he can be one of the greatest ever to play.

"He's big and fast, and can do everything you want him to do, on the field and in the meeting room. I don't know what we're going to do. That's up to the guys upstairs. If we make a run at him, we make a run at him."

If not, Cutler — who threw for 4,526 yards in Denver last season — sounds confident that Devin Hester can fit the bill as the Bears' top pass catcher. A converted defensive back who made a splash as one of the most exciting kick returners of recent years, Hester caught 25 passes for 347 yards in the final six games last season.

"I've watched every game from last year and seen him in action quite a bit," Cutler said. "It's a tough transition from (defensive back) to receiver. He's still learning, but overall I can't be happier with how we're working together and his progression.

"I think he's definitely a legitimate No. 1 receiver in the NFL."

Cutler, a fourth-year quarterback from Vanderbilt, moved from Denver to Chicago after a tumultuous series of events. The Broncos fired 14-year coach Mike Shanahan following last season's 8-8 finish.

When Cutler learned that new head coach Josh McDaniels — the former offensive coordinator in New England — was attempting to bring Patriots quarterback Matt Cassell to Denver, Cutler demanded a trade.

Cutler says he would now handle the matter differently in some ways but expresses no regrets about landing in Chicago.

"It's very rare for a player to want to get traded and it work out the way it did work out," said Cutler, who was traded for two first-round draft picks, a fifth-round draft pick and Chicago QB Kyle Orton. "It's kind of a victory for the players, but I think Denver felt they got a pretty good deal, too.

"It worked out for both of us in the long run. I think they're happy with the situation and I couldn't be happier being in Chicago."

The Washington Redskins also made a run at Cutler. Cutler empathizes with how Redskins' quarterback Jason Campbell must have felt as the team sought his replacement.

"It's tough," Cutler said. "It happened to me. He's handled it great. He's said very few things, kind of handled it internally within the organization and kept it in the building."

"He's just got to keep doing what he's doing — work hard and run the offense."

The Bears' acquisition of Cutler makes them the favorite of some to win the NFC North. He welcomes the high expectations.

"Defensively they're solid and special teams they're solid," he said.

"We've just got to put up some points. I think we've got the weapons to do that. The offensive line is great. We got (All-Pro offensive left tackle) Orlando Pace (formerly of St. Louis) in there as well."

Cutler has some time to wait before the start of camp in late July. He spent some of it Monday tutoring future stars at William and Mary.

Would be pretty nice to get him, but it makes more sense (as stated earlier) to give Plax a run this year if he wants to and go for Marshall the year after when his value could be lower. I don't see it getting any higher w/ Orton-- it'll probably stay about the same, but we'll see.
