Benson whining about the Bears

About how we supposedly blackballed him

(Per wiretap)

ESPN - Bengals running back Cedric Benson is excited to get some retribution against his former team on Sunday.

Benson claims that the Bears bad-mouthed him when he was a free agent this offseason.

"I heard all the rumors that were said coming out of Chicago," Benson said Wednesday in a conference call.

"Even the Bengals told me, they would call and inquire about me and get nothing but negative things -- just that I didn't work hard, that I was a prima donna, or didn't work hard on the field, or I wasn't focused. Anything negative they could say, it was said. I'm sure that contributed largely to me not getting picked up right away."

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/n ... id=4583025

This fool blackballed himself.

Holds out, comes to camp out of shape, expects the red carpet treatment after he comes to camp.

Whines about Urlacher, Mike Brown, and Thomas Jones bullying him(When he was the one who came on the team acting like he was God's gift to mankind instead of being humble).

Wants the job over Thomas Jones who was(And still is) a very well respected Chicago Bear in the locker room and around town.

Fool looked like he gave up in the Super Bowl.

Nobody on the team misses this guy.

I'm honestly happy that we got rid of this clown. He's only motivated now, because if this job doesn't work, he's going to the CFL or UFL(Or buried deep on somebody's bench or practice squad).

If I were the Bears, I'd tell teams to stay away as well.

Bears MUST win this game IMO. Not only from a record POV, but to show him that to us he'll always be the same guy he was when he played here in Chicago.

Not sure why he cares anymore or why he needs to talk about it. If he's happy in Cincinnati then he should be happy that things didn't work out with the Bears. Whatever. Good for him that he's having a nice season, but Cliff Levingston doesn't think he'd have this success without the reality check of getting cut from the Bears.

I loved how our O-line purposely whiffed blocks when Benson was in the backfield. That right there should tell you how much he was liked.

TJ 4eva.

It was such a contrast between TJ and Benson. TJ had the charisma, the work ethic, the respect. Benson was a loner. Not in a bad way, but that was his personality. I don't think he meant to be the outcast, TJ was just really really liked.

I understand Ced's pain. Hell, I'd be angry too if a former employer was **** with my livelihood.

The only people that are angry at his comments are fans that couldn't see the upside while Ced was a Bear. Now you feel stupid.

Alcohol arrests after Tank Johnson's incidents and a not many good games.

It was a very reasonable roster cut. He sucked here. No one feels stupid or regrets anything. If people thought back on the incident with a revisionist history, maybe..but good for him that he's doing well now. Sure was awful back on the Bears, though.

Whatever the case, Ced always had terrific upside as a power/speed combo back. Nobody should be surprised by what he's doing in Cincinnati.

People that were adamant in their "Cedric Benson Sucks" argument are the only ones getting all defensive over his "whining". Best believe that the Bears organization needs to answer for the Ced Benson debacle.

Save the excuses, too.

Of course he had upside which is why the Bears used the 4th overall pick on him. Potential doesn't mean anything if he doesn't produce though.

Bears have to answer for nothing. The Bears traded away their most productive RB since Neal Anderson to give this guy the chance to lead the franchise. He failed in that role miserably. That he decided to work hard after leaving the Bears is more his fault than that of the Bears' organization.

Que?

I don't even hold him holding out against him because everyone does it pretty much nowadays.

On the contrary most (reasonable) people are happy he's gone. It would have never worked here. Of course he had the upside.

Its that while he was here, he chose to alienate his teammates.

We had a blue collar, classic workhorse stud in Thomas Jones. Instead of "going along with the program" and "getting in where he fit in", he expects preferential treatment because of draft status, then comes in out of shape, whines to the high heavens about how he should be the #1. Meanwhile, why he's whining Thomas Jones is out there busting his butt, and having good times with the team. We get rid of the #1 RB for him, he comes in and shows not even a 10th of the heart and work ethic that Thomas Jones does, and has numerous run ins with the law culminating in his release.

He always had the potential, but it really shows that the Bears don't play that mess. They pride themselves on having a good locker room environment. They weren't going to let someone who had proven diddly squat ruin their chemistry. You could see it in their faces. Everyone was sad to see Thomas go.

Cedric Benson played his last game for the Bears when he was only 24 years of age.

All I'm hearing are excuses, CjayC.

Gotta love revisionist history

Go figure Cedric Benson is in the best shape of his life, and running harder than he ever has when his contract is up.

Why don't you address why Cedric never found it necessary to be in his very best possible shape for Sundays when he was in a Bear uniform. Or how he would fall down 2 yards before anyone got to him instead of fighting for yards.

Maybe the Bears did give up on him early, but certainly he never exactly pleaded his case either, in the physical or mental phases of the game.

I was a big fan of Cedric Benson and definitely was upset when he got cut. Alot of it was due to our poor O-line and Bears do have some **** teammates (see Urlacher who couldn't handle an offensive player stealing the spotlight and Thomas Jones being an ass). At the same time, Benson was at fault just as much. He didn't try, he was getting drunk (ya terrific for an nfl player who is paid millions based on his health and being in shape, drinking  ) and he did a poor job communicating with his teammates. The kid had talent, but he also had some major attitude issues, not to mention I prefer Forte who can also block and catch the fricking ball. Good for Benson that he is succeeding elsewhere, honestly I couldn't care less considering he is on a team that means very little to the Bears, save for once every 4 years.

I can't believe that there are still people like Kyle Ortman in the world. I thought people that stupid died out years ago.

Here's the thing: THE BEARS WERE TELLING THE TRUTH! :D Just because Ced finally saw his professional life flash before his eyes after the Bears dumped him and decided to play for a contract doesn't change the fact that he was an underachieving prima donna on the Bears. So Ced, please, on behalf of all the Chicago Bears fanbase, suck it.

Cedric Benson was God awful here. Absolutely terrible. Sure, he's succeeding now, good for him. But he did nothing here.

Ced was miserable here. Somebody stated that when Ced ran the ball, it looked like he was just looking for a place to lay down. That was so true. Benson was miserable. And it started from Day 1, when he held out. When he did finally sign, it didn't matter because Thomas Jones was far superior in every category. T-Jones was in insane physical shape -- Benson was not. T-Jones had the respect of his teammates and coaching staff -- Benson did not. T-Jones ran for a mind-boggling amount of yards -- Benson did not. Etc, etc, etc.

Benson did appear to be getting into a groove i think it was his second year. He had a stretch where he was running really well, but he got injured and everything fell apart after that. Multiple off the field incidents, DUI's, etc, etc.

It was time for Benson to go. I am happy he is running well because he is on my fantasy team, but I hope we stuff the living crap out of him tomorrow. Why would he think we'd give him a glowing recommendation when he held out, sucked, and had multiple DUI's?

In some of the highlights that I've seen from Cincy, he's still doing that. Sometimes when he runs he looks like he is completely top heavy and his head weighs 100lbs. :D
