Rex Grossman's dad tees off on Chicago Bears organization

Rex is no longer the Bears' quarterback.

Jay Cutler, a Pro Bowl performer last season in Denver, is the Bears' quarterback. But the results in Chicago, so far, are eerily similar.

Rex Grossman's father came out firing Monday when asked to assess the Bears' offensive woes with Cutler, compared with the checkered Chicago career of his son.

Dan Grossman, an ophthalmologist in Bloomington, Ind., cited the Bears' long history of futility at quarterback. He emphasized he did not want to come off sounding like your typical disgruntled parent but as an objective observer who bases his comments on Bears history and facts.

"Anybody who wants to dispute that ... all they can be labeled as is idiots," Grossman said.

His comments are actually dead on. People will discount it because of who it's from, but he's absolutely right.

I don't know why you would discount it. I remember him being a very devoted Bears fan.

You don't need to be a devoted Bears fan to point this out, and you don't even have to be an expert in Bears history.

All you need to know is Kyle Orton's quarterback skills far exceeded Rex Grossman's. But its predictable that if they conceded that fact, the media would turn on them for royaly screwing up an expensive first round pick. The Bears admit a mistake, NO!

Michael Haynes anyone? How about some Tommie Harris? ..or Ced Benson, he's the special of the year. If you pass on that, why not some Chris Williams, he's the special everyday of the week, except Sunday of course.

I guess its a little unfair to throw Tommie in there, but if you think about how his career will end up(with the Bears, never being released), then you might as well put him on the list now. No way Bears FO admits he's done and cuts him. Even two years from now.

And, if they keep Greg Olsen lining up in the slot and outside the hashes without ever evolving the other half of his skills, he's going to be on that list soon. A dual threat TE is key in this offense and Greg Olsen is just as responsible as some of the OL regarding the running game.

Mr. Grossman is correct here, very correct. Now if he starts saying we ruined his son or his son would've been better off with another team I wouldn't agree. Rex stunk, he had terrible habits that he didn't care to break, and unfortunately lacked in some physicial elements that he just coudln't do anything about.

You could not sum up the Bears offensive philosophy over the last 20 years better than this IMO :roll:
