Da Bears neverending coaching search

According to Jay Glazer and Moronotti via Twitter, Lovie is staying, assistants aren't. Whether that applies to Toub as well, who knows. But this is a complete farce by team ownership. You are now going to have a lame duck coach and whatever assistants will actually agree to come in and work with your lame duck coach. Completely and utterly unacceptable, unless you drink the Lovie-ade.

Bears supposedly moving Marinelli to DC. I wonder if we'll here that he's the best FA acquisition of the year again? Or in actuality won't this move result in the biggest FA loss of the season?

Marinelli to DC? Not sure that'll help at all since he's just as in the tank for the Cover 2 as Lovie is, and he said he prefers the more hands-on position coaching. We shall see.

Rotoworld.com has Turner being fired while speculating that we'll be going after Weis or the offensive coordinator at USC to replace him. They also have us firing Pep Hamilton and our tight ends coach.

Good point by blumeany though; Lovie is a lame duck, so that can't help to attract big name assistants.

According to Biggs via twitter: OL, QB and OC have gotten the axe. WR and RB coaches are safe.

There goes any chance of the 3-4. Until Lovie gets canned after next season, that is.

I smell a Lovie extension to remedy this. :banghead:

Bears fire Ron Turner, 4 other offensive coaches

Reports that Rod Marinelli would be named defensive coordinator are not true.

Man, the Suntimes goes out of its way to slam my reporting.

Ted Phillips sounds like a douche. And an excuse maker.

"We expect to win, but we're not going to get rid of the two guys at the top that have presided over the losing. Because continuity is important"

Great, so we're going to continue to lose?

Wow... what a sad indictment on the top brass of the Bears.

Ted Phillips should get also get launched along with Lovie and Angelo , and even more so if he made this ludicrously outlandish idiotic statement.

To be fair to Ted - I was paraphrasing a two minute long response.

We better not hire Mike Martz. Why would we want to become the next 0-16 Detroit Lions?

5 assistants have been fired along with Ron Turner. One notable is Pep Hamilton.

I'm confused - Martz wasn't there during the winless season. Detroits offense wasn't too bad the two years Martz was there.

Clearly we owe too much money to Lovie to make a move.

I look forward to next year's press conference around this time to announce our new head coach and/or GM.

I love Angelo's comment that in his private meeting with Lovie, he was assured that Lovie felt he could get the job done. What the hell is he supposed to say??

In one breath we're told that these new coaches will bring fresh ideas that will turn things around yet why doesn't theory apply to the head coach and GM ?

On a side note, it's tough to listen to WSCR during these press conferences. Those guys love to do their schtick the whole time.

I gave up, switched to the other station.

So long Turner, Rod promoted, others releived

from what I can understand, Rod is now our Defensive Cordinaor and Turner is now as out as can be.

Yep the Bears had to make a move to keep fans "happy". Lovie and Angelo should have been fired as well but they have big ass contracts unlike Turner.
