106. Lindsey Witten DE Conecticut
Gaines Adams' unfortunate passing means that the Bears will be searching for a defensive end this offseason. Hopefully the Bears and Bengals receive the top third-round compensatory picks like the Redskins did in the wake of Sean Taylor's death.

Yea, Im not sure the same things happends here though, because well,
a) Sean Taylor was killed
b) concerning the Bengles and Henry, He didnt just pass, he had something going on Merital wise, also, Henry was a 3rd round pick, while Taylor and Adams were top picks, Taylor 5th and GAines 4th
My guese is, The bears will get a 3rd round pick, and the Bengles a 5th

Eh? I'm fairly confident the Redskins did not get that pick as compensation for losing Sean Taylor - they got it for losing players to free agency. We don't deserve anything in this case and neither to the Bengals (aka "Bengles")

I'm fairly certain everyone, Chicago Bears reps, NFL reps, ESPN etc and said you do not get compensation for a deceased player. AT all. His contract is voided and that is it.
On that note though, really? a DE? I think I would take Major Wright if I were in that position. I think I would take him and be very happy with the draft(awesome name.)

Im a florida Fan Myself, I like Wright, but I would rather have Rashad Jones if he is there. HE has better size, better speed, and hits like a truck.

I take the best available safety without a question. I just happened to see Wright's name a few slots down and was like, why the hell not.

Jeff Dickerson answered this the night after Adams died and said we don't receive a pick. I'll try to find a link but it was on espnchicago.com

No extra draft picks for Bears' in wake of Adams' deathhttp://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/p ... dams-deathAlthough the Gaines Adams' tragedy is less then 12 hours old, we feel somewhat compelled -- based on the inordinate amount of e-mails and texts -- to provide clarification on the issue of NFL compensatory draft picks.
Many have wondered if the league is required to give the Bears extra draft choices this spring due to Adams' sudden and shocking passing.
"No compensation is given for a player who passes away," Chicago Bears spokesperson Scott Hagel said.
The focus right now should be remembering Adams and offering condolences to his family and friends, but we just couldn't ignore all the inquiries on the subject.

I don't see why there would be and where it would come from. It's sad and all but that would be over the top.

Doubt it, especially if we sign a couple free agents of our own. I'm pretty sure its a net loss type thing where you get the picks if you lose more than you sign.
Besides it wouldn't be until 2011 anyways and the pick will be based on how that player does.
