Tab Perry signs with the Dolphins. Kind sucks but we do still need a No. 4 WR through the draft. We get one and I'm satisfied with CJ/TJ/Henry/(pick)/Holt.

Cincy inks Ben Utecht to a 3-year deal. One fewer need to fill. I like it.

Since neither Chad or T.J. is working out and Glenn Holt has been signed to be the presumed No. 4, do we already have a No. 5?

Asked if Johnson's trade rants could have a negative impact on the Bengals, quarterback Carson Palmer said, "I'm not going to get too involved in it."

Palmer said he hasn't paid much attention to it and says he's focusing on working with a guy like Marcus Maxwell, a practice squad receiver that impressed him last year.

That's from the Bengals' team site. Maxwell is a seventh-rounder out of Oregon a few years back who was pretty raw but has good measurables (6-5, 230). If he and Carson develop some trust, that could be huge for Cincy.

Two big rumors that could drive things this offseason:

1. Rudi Johnson could be released June 1st.

2. Jonathan Fanene has bulked up to 300 lbs. and will be part of the DT rotation.

If Rudi goes, who runs the ball?

Will Irons be ready this year?

All signs point to no on Irons, but he'd have regained his health by Opening Day, if that makes sense.

If Rudi goes, I'd imagine they take a guy like McFadden or trade down in the draft for Stewart or Mendenhall, which I could easily see happening but am not sure they'd really go with it.

We've established ad nauseum that DL and LB are the weakest spots on the team...but there are a lot of good 2nd/3rd round DL and LB that could be had.

Our WR situation is in shambles right now. Chad Johnson is sooking, which makes TJ sook. And when will Chris Henry stop breaking the god damn law. (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

It's actually not that bad on paper. With Henry, we had one of the best receiving corps in the league. He'll obviously need to be replaced, but that's what that compensation pick at #97 can do for us. Jerome Simpson anyone?

Reserve RB Quincy Wilson was waived following an arrest earlier this week.

F**K. Leaves us with four running backs (Rudi, Irons, Perry, Dorsey) who can't produce at all. This is going to be a LONG season.

Per Wiretap, the Bengals signed WR Doug Gabriel to a 1-year deal.

It's harmless, but also completely baseless. Running back is a much bigger need nowadays than WR.

Two down: According to the Wiretap, LBs Anthony Schlegel and Roy Manning were released. Both of them were special teams fodder at best so this isn't a loss.

My question is, who else gets cut?

Possibly five as there's news that Shaun Alexander's going to pay the Bengals a visit. PNF, I'm sure you've got to be familiar with Shaun since you live in the PNW...he seems to be completely done. I have no idea why the Bengals would have any interest...

Oh yeah. I'm a big follower of the Seahawks, I just don't always post on the board.

It looks like Marvin Lewis may be forced to go RB by committee, but Alexander probably won't be a part of that because the backfield is pretty crowded as is.

The Dayton Daily News reported that a) Ahmad Brooks has been struggling with a recurring groin injury and b) he's moving to outside linebacker.

The former sucks, the latter is an eyebrow-raiser. Does Marvin want to try a Brooks/Rivers/Thurman LB core? That would be great if he can make it work, but there are quite a lot of ifs in that scenario.
