Can we match any offer for carl landry
Im just wondering. I dont think he will be cheap. He has all the tools to become a good player. His 6'9 240 can hit the mid range shot. He can get offensive boards. Has good of hops. and he can drive to the basket. I wont be Surprise if some team offers him 5-9 mill a year if they could.

Before the knee thing popped up I would have thought the max offer he'd possibly get would be @ $3-3.5mil. The Rockets can't pay him more than Scola since Scola's the starter. I doubt anybody else would offer him the full MLE as most teams now tend to split it,w/@ $3-3.5mil to sign a Free Agent and the rest for emergencies, late season roster moves or to re-sign one of their own players.
But I truly expect him to get Chuck Hayes money-@$1.75mil,which is prob what the Rockets are hoping they can re-sign him for, maybe at 2 yrs. I expect him to get pd more in this range than the higher as he is vertically challenged, has not shown to be a shot-blocker or monster rebounder, hasn't cracked the starting line-up and hasn't shown the ability to beat his man 1-on-1.(Not saying he can't,he just hasn't shown it.) He and his agent were tough negotiators last summer, going to be interesting to see what they do this summer.
Another factor is there are alot of pretty decent F/As this summer and the restricted ones are esp good.

Based on CBA rules, the maximum other team can offer Landry is the full MLE for the 1st season, a standard 8% rise for the 2nd season, and any amount for the 3rd seasons onwards.
Whether rockets are willing to pay Landry the full MLE is another question but they will have the ability to match offer for Landry due to this CBA rule (also known as the Glibert Arenas provision).
