With the 25th pick the Rockets select...Nobody.
Based on Morey interview earlier in week,I'd say it's
51% pick part of package for player
25% pick used to move up in draft
5% pick traded for future pick,to set up trade(ie,Memphis has TWO 08 and TWO 10 Firsts,but only 1 09.)
3% it's the second of two Firsts as Rockets traded/bought an earlier First.(Seattle's second First and one of their Seconds for cash and the 09 First, anyone?)
1% pick traded for future pick as Rockets not enthused w/who's available.

But if they do keep pick and draft a player, keep in mind what Morey did last yr. He thought the team was weak at PG and PF,so he drafted a PG and PF and also traded/signed a PG and PF. This yr he said the biggest Rocket need is a SG/SF back-up w/size who can score and get his own shot. If Rush is available,I think the Rockets don't even hesitate. Lee might be the second choice, but his height may be a factor.(If Lee is available in early Second Rd,I see the Rockets going after him hard. He would make Head instantly expendable.) If the Rockets trade for a scorer w/out giving up the pick-and have room to bring in Green-Robin Lopez looks like a nice pick,to develope as Yao's back-up.

need of wing -- just re-sign Green (if Douglas-Roberts and Rush are not available)
need of backup c -- just sign big Tsak again
we done pretty good with Scola/Landry/Hayes playing backup C
if Yao is down again we wont have a chance anyway

...and he'll need more time to develop than Head did.

Truth... one of the reasons why he's projected to go in the 2nd round.
This upcoming draft is deep.

He would be a late first rounder in a weaker draft.

Will there be a draft party at the Toyota Center.
2 years ago they had one where everyone boo'ed the Rudy Gay trade
Last year there was a Comets home game on draft night
This year there is no event scheduled on June 26 at TC
Will they hold an event for a team with such a late pick?
I remember going to the 1993 draft party at the Summit when they drafted Sam Cassell 24th.
I think after another playoff disaster it would help retain interest in the team among the fans.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

I sure hope that there's a draft party. Just be ready to boo. No matter who we pick, fans will be unhappy.

I guarantee, much like Deke guarantees wins, that the first post following the draft will go something like:

"What the hell is Morey thinking?!?"

Like others, I really like CDR, Brandon Rush, Joe Alexander, and a couple of others who are projected to go a liiiittle bit sooner than the Rockets #25 pick. Below are those teams and their needs. Lets work a trade, Morey.

The teams with the 18th - 24th picks are...

18. Washington : Their fans seem to want a combo guard who can shoot and play D, or a PF/C. How about a pick swap plus Luther Head, Washington? We'll take a PF/C for you. Interested?

19. Cleveland : They seem to want a big. We don't have any to spare. Chuckwagon + pick swap probably wouldn't get it done.

20. Denver : See 'Washington'. PF/C or a scoring PG. *cough*Luther!*cough*

21. New Jersey : They already have a lottery pick, so depending on who they take with it, their needs at #21 could change drastically. And if Jefferson gets moved, that alters everything even further. The only thing they DON'T need are guards, assuming VC and Harris stay. Jefferson, for what it's worth, makes way too much money for way too long. If the Rockets traded for him, our depth and cap situations would be in peril for years.

22. Orlando : They have so many needs, they might welcome the opportunity to trade down for a player and a 2nd. But I doubt CDR or Rush will be available at #22.

23. Utah : Trade them the plague for our 1st round pick. Totally worth it.

24. Seattle : While they have a bunch of need, their roster is packed to overflowing. With the #2 pick already, they'll want any trading partner to take back a scrub or two. Moving up 1 pick isn't enough motivation for the Rockets to do that.

Well, this settled absolutely nothing.

It will be. I wish they have it at Toyota Center instead of Dave and Busters. :(

I just hope they have it in some place I'm not already banned from.

Last year was bad. I was 86'd 30 seconds after the Nets took Sean Williams. That was a record for me - gone before the Rockets even picked.

Ribalding,
Don't write off the Seattle pick. If Rush fell that far I could see Houston offering cash to swap picks. And there's the chance Morey agrees early to a trade that includes Rocket pick-as he stated was strong possibility in interview last week-and then tries to buy/trade for Seattle pick.(Seattle has the second Second so my bet is Seattle trades their second First. And teams that have traded together in past tend to do so again.)
Interesting to see just how much Adelman values Battier's intangibles-and if he doesn't value them that highly whether he has the clout to get Morey to agree to trading Battier. Because Portland wants a vet w/all of Battier's qualities and has good young talent that they may have to move to clear up minutes. If Portland called w/an offer of Webster,Jack,Von Wafer and swap Firsts,Morey would have to seriously consider it.(Esp as there are some decent defensive FA wings to be had.)
