The latest buzz has the Knicks talking to Memphis about a deal that would send David Lee and the expiring contract of Malik Rose to Memphis for No. 5 and Cardinal."

Is this not a perfect time to make a hard run at the Grizz? I never wanted to give up Scola for Miller but now could be the best time to maximize his trade value. Maybe something like Bobby Jackson, Head, Scola, Novak 09 1st, 08 2nd for Miller Cardinal #5....or something like that?

Also, DeAndre Jordan has been slipping big in mock drafts..if we have the 25th and he falls to us, do we grab or pass?

1. Bad trade.
edit: ok maybe not, if you think Landry can start and Cardinal can back him up (doesn't look promising), don't mind not having a backup pg, and don't mind having any depth outside Mac/Battier/Miller at sg/sf, not that we have depth there now. The #5 could possibly be used to make up for some of that, but it still looks troublesome for us and I'm not sure why Memphis would want that package and to give away their #5 when they're rebuilding
2. Draft thread not good enough for you eeeh? What, I suppose you don't like marching up and down the square either?!

That Cardinal contract comes off the same year as Mcgrady's. If we wanted to make a run at one of the stars that will be free agents that offseason It may be worth the gamble for the time being. We probably wouldn't deal for Miller though since their expectations of value are ridiculous. No thanks to moving Scola.

Nah, I wouldn't do that, Cardinal isn't a very good option to take in. The 25th pick, well if Jordan is there then IMO I say we grab him, he has good potential, can be a great backup to Yao, can even develop into a starting PF or C in the future.

We could just figure out a way to just get the #5 and Cardinal. not Mike Miller just yet. Because with MM we would have to give up alot more I think they just want to rid of cardinal.
So what if we give them our expirings, not much and I'm pretty sure that they say no, but what about:
BJax
Francis
Head and/or Brooks
for
CArdinal
#5
and filler.

Why would Memphis want to hold up their rebuilding for another year so they can cut 10m in salary and likely start to incur penalties for being too far below the cap? They're already down to 44m for next season. From our side, the back of my head is screaming NO NO IT IS A TERRIBLE TRADE but the front is saying oooo sugar!!! Maybe I'm just in a junk food kick right now.

Heck to to Cardinal. He would be a 3rd stringer on our team for 13 million. I'll pass. I do want Miller though, bu the only way we would get him is if we trade Scola in the package and I would decline. To answer your other question, if DeAndre Jordan is somehow available at 25 I dont see why Morey would draft him. We can develop him when Mutombo retires and he would from a nice 1-2 combo Yao at center.
