Can the Ron Ron trade be reversed?

Post#1 » by killermamba » Thu Jul 31, 2008 4:54 pm

I heard and called into the Sacramento station last night while they were taking calls for Ron. From the looks and sound of it, he seems like he is content on being in Houston and is already proclaiming himself as if he were a Rocket.

I assume this deal is done? However in reading these other bogus reports, it makes me wonder if the deal can be put off if another team makes a better deal before Aug 14th and or if Ron decideds he doesnt want to play in Houston anymore. Can anybody clarify this? Thanks!

Ron Ron deal possibly off? That is a misleading title. I'm going to edit that as it makes it seem like you read or heard that somewhere when in reality you just wonder if it is a possibilty.

He can't do anything, it's all about the Kings. And anyway, the player wants to come.

I wonder what will happen if another team offer a better offer than the one we made in the next 2 weeks? can the kings reject us or there is already something signed?

Can't be reversed. He can choose not to show up. And with that cold welcome Yao gave him yesterday he was already threatening to not to show up to Houston without a commitment. I hope the situation is resolved.

Here is the thing about Artest...if you have his back he'll go to war for you. Adelman found that out in Sacto. The guy just wants support. He wants to...well...be loved. As long as the guys in our locker room have his back he'll be happy and he'll bust his ass to help us win. Through thick and thin...the rest of the team needs to have his back. So far the only person that didn't was Yao and him being who he is made that a big deal. Its not like that was Steve Francis commenting negatively on the Artest trade...that was Yao.

As long as thats cleared up we should be fine. Adelman will take of him. McGrady has always had respect for him and Alston and him are from NY.

if the deal is called off by the kings then it would blow up like the elton brand controversy did, on how he back off on his word.

Either team can still choose not to complete the trade - for any reason.

Or Ron can choose to retire.

Otherwise, it's done. (Translated : "It's not even close to being finalized.")

Only way it blows up is if Ron artest punches Yao but besides that he will be in Houston on the 14th.

But what if the Mavs (for give an example) give the Kings something like Wright+Bass+2 future first round picks?

Well it seems like most of you are on the same page, fact is there is not binding agreement on paper to say the least. So yeah theoretically it would be a possibility that it could be called off by either party.

But I'm happy for you guys because this is where the "new" NBA is going with trios. It's NBA evolution.

Because Green can't be traded yet, the deal is not finalized... so anything can happen for the next two weeks.

A Steven Hunter trade that had been announced by the teams (76ers & Charlotte I think) a few years ago was rescinded before the league approved, as one of the teams got cold feet.
When Gary Payton didn't report to Boston, the Lakers had to change the terms of that trade for it to go through.
Plus, don't forget the physicals. Remember the Sean Elliott trade to Detroit?

The Steven Hunter trade didn't happen because he failed the physical. I think that is the only way these can be backed out of once they are submitted to the league office for approval. Something else I recall is when a guy refuses to report and doesn't take his physical. That was a loophole and the only other way that I can recall this happening and I could have sworn they put something in the rules a few years ago to prevent that from being a problem because so many guys were doing that. I can't remember for sure though.

Yes this is as good a trio as is in Boston or anywhere in the league if you ask me. And there are some pretty good ones around the league.

I don't think the Kings would do anything to negate the trade, not to Adelman, who gave so much to that organization.

Outside of us, Celtics, and Spurs, and to a small degree the Wiz, those are all REALLY 2 star teams with a third wheel. You might can even knock Spurs off that short list.
