[Yao Speaks]Yao to Artest: We Can Be Good Friends

Post#1 » by Vator » Fri Aug 1, 2008 6:12 pm

Lost in translation? Yao says there was a misunderstanding, clears the air and tries to clear up his comments.

"I would tell him that he is very welcome to join our Houston Rockets," Yao said. "He's the guy we need right now to make our team stronger."

A report earlier this week quoted Yao as being worried about how Artest would affect team chemistry and concerned that Artest would continue to have off the court issues. Yao said Friday in an interview with FOX 26 Sports from Nanjing, China that he believes his thoughts were blown out of proportion.

"If something I said would make Ron feel uncomfortable I apologize," Yao said. "I'm really sorry about that.

"Because I still don't know him very well. Still by the time we stay together obviously I will fix it."

The two men worked on just that during an international phone call yesterday.

"I talked to him last night China time about (a) misunderstanding on the report," Yao said. "It's better when we have a chance to sit down and talk face to face.

"Before training camp, before the season, we have a lot of time. I think we can be good friends."

Does this mean that 13 of the 16 other threads on it can be locked? :)

Ok, I'll put you in charge of that. You can get some temp mod powers and I'll let you handle everybody who complains about having active threads locked? Probably gonna have to suspend a few people in the process for backseat modding and possibly calling you something other than moofs.

You up for the challenge? I must warn you, if a situation like that arises, you're gonna spend more time modding than posting and actually enjoying the board for what it was intended for.

I say let them die of natural causes. This is an unusual situation and it's not like a lot of anything else is going on at the moment.

Haha yeah, the main reason they're bugging me is cause I can't get freaking threads to show up as "Read" so every time I open the site it looks like there are a majillion threads to read. Then they're all on the same thing, then I get annoyed, ....then I hit refresh   :x

^^^I've been having that same issue lately. Click mark topics as read. It seems to fix that by marking the topics you have read while leaving the ones that you haven't alone.

I could react to this several different ways, but I will try to let the past be the past. If I were you though, I would just steer clear of me and anything that could even be misconstrued or taken out of context in any way considering your history. We have communicated via PM and you know where I stand with you so I'll leave it at that. Insinuating I lock my own thread or that somebody else do it...nevermind, been down this road before, but if you don't have anything useful to add to threads just don't post.

There are several threads made giving updates where Artest has come out and said something on the situation and hardly any on Yao. This is a thread worthy topic just as those updates were so I'm not cramming it into another thread where it can get lost. This is an unusual circumstance, there is little other news going on so KR and I are taking that into consideration as we deal with this trade and the Yao/Artest controversy that followed.

One other thing, I just took a good hard look at it and it seems that most of those original threads are falling towards the 2nd page already as the news becomes antiquated so that natural process has already started to take place on it's own. Let me know how that "mark all topics as read" works for you.

Looks like that worked. The problem was only showing up on my laptop in the first place though. Weird.

For the other, I was pretty much only wanting them locked for purely selfish reasons of not wasting all my time and sanity due to repeated mundane topic / board glitch. As long as one or the other is gone, I'm good. :) Coulda been fun to get griped at like that though.

"Board Nazi!!!!!"
"Look, that's not my fault. I was born that way, ok? OK? You gonna discriminate? BANNED!"

It's good they squashed whatever disagreement they had early so we can start building chemistry as soon as training camp starts.
