Who compliments Yao Ming?

Post#1 » by randomhero423 » Mon Aug 18, 2008 11:12 am

Let's say the following were picked:
(1): LeBron James
(2): Kobe Bryant
(3): Chris Paul
(4): Dwight Howard
(5): Dwyane Wade
(6): Kevin Garnett
(7): Tim Duncan
(8): Deron Williams
(9): Yao Ming
(10): Amare Stoudmire
(11): Carmelo Anthony
(12): Chauncey Billups

What big man would you try to put next to Yao Ming? I was thinking of Rasheed Wallace, Marcus Camby, Tyson Chandler, Emeka Okafor, Al Horford, Lamarcus Aldridge.

Thanks

I'd say sheed, horford, or okafor. Horford I'd prefer over all for offensive purposes because he plays in the post. Yao & sheed on offense would be crazy annoying with all those jumpers and we wouldn't be able to hit the offensive boards efficiently at all. But on D I'd prefer okafor or sheed. Sheed is an underrated defender and I think people finally see thats the reason why ben wallace was so effective was because he had a really solid defender on the other side of him. Okafor would be a nice option because he also plays offense in the post, plus he's a good shot blocker. However hypothetically speaking could you imagine adding his injury prone a** to our already injury prone team . Chandler needs to be in a certain system in order for him to show his true value so I say no, Despite Camby being a good defender he benefited a lot from the nuggets poor defense because he's a good shot-blocker and he has good defensive awareness.

Sheed, and Horford for me. The are both a good mid range shooter, and Sheed can give you outside shots. Although I think Scola compliments him as well as anybody.

Sheed, terrific man defender and provides the spacing Yao needs to operate in the post.

Oh ... ....

....oops... wait...., New York fan. Ok, nevermind. I can excuse it. Sorry! That was a knee-jerk reflex from some Houston fans genuinely requesting an "upgrade at PF" over the past year. Carry on.

Why is Billups picked at 13?

Anyways, I'd take Horford. Sheed's the better fit but he doesn't bring it consistently. Other options are Boozer, West but their lack of D is too much of a problem.

How about KG? He's great defensively and offensively, doesn't suck. He would also bring the fire every game and is what I think Yao needs around him (a la Olympics games). We know how Yao/Mac can play when they are pumped!!

Sheed. The perfect compliment is a PF who can 1) rebound, 2) defend, 3) shoot the rock. While I love Scola and Landry for their intensity and effort they aren't the *perfect* fit.

How is Scola not a perfect fit? When games that Hayes started we played badly but ever since Scola came in the lineup we took off. Scola has a rebound, defend and is decent shooting the rock, and he can move around alot and is active around the basketball.

To my understanding this thread is essentially a "your dream PF" thread. Sheed is my dream PF for this team. Sheed can rebound, defend, and shoot a *lot* better than Scola can. Only thing Scola has on Sheed is hustle.

And sure Scola looks great when you compare him to our past starting PFs like Hayes and Juwan, but almost anybody can look good when compared to those two. In reality Scola is average for a starting PF, but like I said I love him (mainly because of his contract and the fact that we're paying him in chicken mcnuggets).
