I was going to say good trade for you guys. I really, really DJ Strawberry as a role players. He is a excellent defender (guards 1's, 2's and 3's) and is winner. Offensively he is great on the fast break. I know it is a stretch for him to make you active roster but I think you'll be surprised.

If it was simply about money,Hou could have just sent Singletary to Pho and Pho could have waived Strawberry w/out having to trade him. So the Rockets saw something in Strawberry that caused them to trade FOR him.
I went back and reviewed the Draft Express Summer League reports and he can defend. I can easily see him getting burn in D-League while he works on his shot, then brought up for stretch run and put on Playoff roster to guard Williams,Paul,Nash and Iverson-and esp to shut down their back-ups and force them out of the game. Potentially Adelman could send out a unit of Strawberry,Artest,Battier,Dorsey and Yao. He would give the team tremendous flexability. Adelman could go Barry/Brooks for offense or Barry/Strawberry for defense.
One other consideration. Ron has missed MORE games then T-Mac over the past 2 seasons. For a game where Ron is out,Strawberry is big enough to guard 2s and 3s while Battier is resting.

You could be right, and he's generally looked ok when I've seen him play. Dunno. It might depend on what other trades Morey can get to happen, but that's also why I don't usually predict things. ;)

Well idk about this trade. We added salary which now makes it even more difficult to re-sign Landry and Mutombo.

But according to hoopshype, Strawberry has a team option for this season of 711,517. I wonder if thats true?

Strawberry's contract isn't guaranteed this year while Singletary's was partially.... expect him to be cut...

I'll get a link later...

3rd pg? i guess you forgot about Francis

No I've seen Singletary play a lot and really think he is a better player than Aaron Brooks... i think Francis is coming back in shape to be the 2nd PG.

Brooks' game just doesn't work in the NBA to me. He's going to have his moments, but he's just too small to be effective for long stretches of play. Singletary has just an inch, but 25 pounds on brooks. The Suns want him to be the 3rd PG, so obviously he's got NBA skill.

As a wizards fan you guys have a pretty nice squad. I've been keeping an eye on dj hoping to get him into our camp because he's a good defender. You guys also have Artest who I also wanted. Battier as well who you already had. So much credit to your Gm for a good offseason job. He's gotten a lot of good defenders and tough players surrounding tracy and yao and I won't be suprised if you guys have a good season.

Actually we saved money , Singletary was partially guranteed , DJ is unguranteed unless he makes the opening night roster , we can cut him without paying him nothing.

So whos gonna back yao up? Hayes isnt cutting it really.... we need a starting C if yao goes down 2.

But our team looks good on paper, Landry should just take 1 year 2,4 million and then have a player option for next year which shoul be around 3,2 million. Deke should be given 2 million for a year, i think hes worth it. We all know that the money isnt exactly going to mutombo... but to his charity.
Ppl wanna do some donation? Bring back the sex machine in mutombo? We donate money and then give it to him in contract so he can use it to build new hospital or something?
We need the rebounding and blocks he can give in his limited minutes, 10-15 minutes 4-5 rpg , 1-1,2 blocks or when yao is in foul trouble.

Ron ron on how commited he is to the team.

Thanks buddy, but we had a good season last year -- 55 wins (22 in a row). A good season is no longer enough around here. We will settle for nothing less than the finals. Good luck to the Wizards too especially since I'm a Rockets fan by way of DC.

Thnaks a lot and lets hope both teams will stay healthy next year!

What are the chances he makes the roster, he seems from what I've heard a solid defender that can play both guard positions and possesses decent handles..

I think he has a shot of making the team, but it will be tough. His defense will get him in if anything else. And he is very versitile.

No doubt! RocketsTerps in the house. This is a GREAT trade by Daryl Morey. It takes care of the big/ athletic/ defending guard I thought we needed (J. Crittenton). Now all we need is a tall athletic 4/5 to backup and play w/ Yao against the Garnett type PF's that Scola can't defend. Trade Head & Hayes for Sean Williams and it's a wrap!

Strawberry > Crittendon as a PG. Crit may later emerge as a SG. Strawberry will make the cut and his size + D can be a +. I was impressed with Singletary, and I do like Brooks but either will have some difficulty making a mark as a bench PG.

I'd like to see Brooks on GSW's roster someday, but don't think there's a deal that's there now. his best asset is speed. Straw's strength is he's well rounded and he got some good experiance with the Suns.

Suns front office? They are looking for a way to stay a contender but to do it on the cheap.
This exchanges a couple of backup PG's. Strawberry has NBA experiance but costs a bit more. I expect the Suns before too long have Nash-Shaq-Hill all over the hill or gone and they sold off several chances to have more future. How long till the bubble bursts?

What? Dude, you need to watch basketball. Crittenton is 20 times the PG Strawberry is. Strawberry can pass, but cannot lead like a PG. There's a big difference between the two.

Suns Fan here, Just droppin by to tell you guys, to have some faith in DJ. I was not excited at all when i heard he was traded. Give him a shot, you will see the potential in this kid. I think he will go much farther than Singletary and Critt. Once he gets his shot down, I think he can be another Raja Bell or even better. Its all up to him.

He is got a good chance , we plan to sign Deke , Dorsey and Landry.

Landry and Dorsey will sign for sure , Deke is 50-50.

If all 3 sign then Strawberry will have to fight with Harris for the last roster spot (Both have unguranteed contracts) , if only 2 of them sign then both Harris and Strawberry will probably make the team.
