We Should Be Happy!

Post#1 » by ShaY » Sat Nov 8, 2008 2:17 pm

IMO we should be happy about where we are right now.

I know we are not playing well , but no team in the NBA is playing up to their abilities now.
We are a work in progress , don't expect perfection when we are missing Battier , Mcgrady is not at full strength and we are just starting to get our chemistry because you will only get upset and disappointed.

We had a few questions marks coming into the season.
Backup pg
And another big body.

Brooks is playing well and it looks like backup pg won't be a problem this year.
We knew we needed more size coming in and Morey knows that too , we will be ok for the regular season most of the time.
Before the trading deadline that issue will be taken care off , either by Deke or something else.

We are 4-2 , 3rd in the WC while we have injuries , a tough schedule and we still could have been easily 6-0.

I don't care how we play in the first month as long as we get the wins and our record is fine and we are doing that.

If after 2 months we look the same then I will be worried , we need to reach our peak at the right time and it's not now.

What I am saying is take it easy , we are ok right now.
Don't expect perfection so early because nobody has that.

And don't expect Yao and Mcgrady to be like Shaq and Kobe because they are not superstar , they are all starts that can rise to superstar level from time to time but they are not superstars , thats why we need a guy like Artest to win big.

Have patience.

Also don't forget that our division is struggling. I'm sure the Hornets will pick it up, but SA is currently last in our division right now. I know they'll get things going as well, but they just don't seem like the same old Spurs. I knew Roger Mason wasn't the answer for them, Ginobili is injured, and now Parker just got injured. SA could be in a lot of trouble this year if they keep getting hit with these injuries.

What does the division struggling mean to us? You win your division you are only guaranteed a top 4 spot but not home court. This team needs home court.

Other team is struggling got nothing to do with us. We are capable to beat Portland, but we didn't. The reason for our 22 games winning streak is because we are beating the team we are supposed to beat.

The 22 win streak came later in the year when the Rockets had much better chemistry and things were clicking(plus an easier schedule). This is early November. The OP pretty much nailed it and there isn't really much to add.

Except tits.

I know but what I am saying is don't overreact because we are not playing well , no team in the NBA is playing up to their ablities now.

And every season there are a lot of games we should win but lose , and should lose but win , thats just how it is , even when we will click it will happen.

Last year in the 22 game win streak we beat everybody , the ones we should have and the ones we didn't "on paper".

We did got our asses kicked twice by Philadelphia before the win streak , And I am sure we will have a loss or two of those this season too , it happens to everybody every season.

One of our losses is to Boston....this isn't boston from 2-5 years ago...remember? They won the championship last year. Relax. Like I've said earlier, we are going to struggle against teams with more than one big man (which is basically a lot of teams in the league). We have no big man other than Yao, who doesn't even play big on defense. Of course we're gonna get beat on the boards and when you get beat on the boards by double digits, you are going to lose a lot of games. =/ I look to Morey to shore up our frontcourt soon. Whether that means trading one of them, hayes/landry/Scola, or putting them on HGH.

The Rockets are going to be fine. I'm not worried about them at all.

The squad I am worried about is Philly because they've got big problems with a roster that isn't constructed well. The Rockets are built for the post-season and will be contenders.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

It always takes us long to start out the season, plus our schedule is as hard as anyone's. Just give it some time guys, come on. Believe.

We can't play like a contender in the regular season you expected us to be one in playoffs? If we continue to suck we are not going to make the playoffs. We are not the early 2000s Spurs, they can just turn on from March to June. I have yet to see a combination that is working. Maybe the best 5 is really Yao/Scola/Battier/T-Mac/Alston.

our best 5 combination so far... (only 2 is showing in top 50 and there's no sort for this season yet)
1. Yao/Scola/Artest/T-Mac/Alston -> +29
2. Yao/Hayes/Artest/Barry/Brooks -> +22

compare to last year
1. Yao/Scola/Battier/T-Mac/Alston -> +47
2. Yao/Wells/Battier/T-Mac/Alston -> +39
3. Mutombo/Scola/Battier/T-Mac/Alston -> +35
4. Yao/Hayes/Battier/T-Mac/Alston -> +35
5. Yao/Hayes/Battier/Head/Alston -> +33

People just need to relax.

We are where we are supposed to be now. We lost to the defending champs by 4 (although it was a game we could have won) and got EMBARRASSED by the Western Conference Champs in LA. Minus Brandon Roy's miracle shot we should be 5-2.

I'm not satisified with the way we've played to start the season, but I can live with it. Our "Big 3" isn't going to gel right away like the Celtics did last year for a couple of reasons:

1.) KG, PP, & Allen compliment each other better imo.
2.) Boston plays in the EC which drastically weaker last season.

Also, we are not healthy. McGrady isn't 100% and as bad as he has played this season, McGrady at 70% is still alot better than "NO McGrady." Also, we are truly hurting without Shane Battier. We are losing a ton of perimeter defense without him and a reliable 3 point. We need him back ASAP.

We will be fine imo. Lets just get to the playoffs with a healthy squad and good chemistry and I like our chances in ANY 7 game series.

People are overracting right now.
You should know our star players by now.

Sometimes T-Mac will play a lazy ass game (Last year it was in Philly when we got blown out and he left at halftime with a weak ass injury).

Yao will sometimes look useless and clumsy , in the past it happened a lot when team were fronting him.

Thats why we need a guy like Artest and everybody , including Battier and another long big to be really good.

But if Yao looks like crap , and T-Mac plays a weak game it doesn't mean they are useless or that our season is done.

We always got better as the season went on , last year we looked even worse than this year so far and we had our best regular season in years.

When we go deeper into the season and to the playoffs , T-Mac won't have these lazy games , Yao will be better and our whole team will look a lot better on all aspects.

I can't believe there is so much drama after only 7 games out of 82 , and we aren't that bad either , we are 4-3 with a tough schedule.

Don't judge this team and our stars so far that we have seen everything we see right now in the past , and we have seen we can easily fix it as the season progresses.
