Tracy Mcgrady

Post#1 » by 40Cal » Sat Nov 15, 2008 7:09 am

Ive been a T-Mac fan for bout 3 years now and live in Toronto. And I juss wanna know what you guys think the problem is for Tracy's poor performance all of a sudden. I can think of some. Like: Lack of effort, maybe he aint 100% yet, athletic ability has gone down or maybe tht other topic was correct maybe he duz play better on national TV. Fortunately, its styll early Rockets fans. we can turn this around in a short time.

Lack of effort, he's shown he can score anytime he wants, he's still got a quicker first step than people would think and can finish with either hand, it's just that he doesn't choose to do so on some nights when he feels they don't need him to. That came back to bite him in the butt today when we blew the 4th quarter lead and he had no feel for the game whatsoever and essentially lost us the game. This guy has the athletic gifts of anyone, and can literally do anything on the floor, but his mindset, demeanor and lack of body language during games is what hurts him from truly being that elite player.

I was kinda somewhat in that direction. I think that Tracy can be up there with Kobe or even better if he just shows alot more effort and willingness

He lost some quickness and athletic ability and the injury makes it even worse so he is really slow right now.

He also doesn't feel like he needs to carry all the load right now , so that feeling paired with not being completly healthy makes him take it a little easy on him self.

It pisses me during the game and after losses but I don't care , it's November and he should be ready around March not now , And I have a feeling he will.

Even thogh we struggle right now I am still confident this will be a special season if we stay healthy.

The knee obviously is bothering him. When Battier comes back he is gonna have to shut it down for about 2 weeks or so to give that knee some time to heal on its own. Him playing on is probably not the best way to get it better. Seems like when he has a few days off he comes back strong. Unfortunately we have games that are of the back 2 back and standard one day off....to finish this month.

IMO the Rockets should still be winning with him hobbled. He can't be the be all and end all of this team. If thats the case then we are essentially where we have always been.

The entire team on a whole needs to step it up. Coaches and players.

he needs JVG's aggression attitude; he made sure McGrady played aggressive the entire game, even if we were up 20+, it didn't matter to JVG he just wanted all of his players to play with an aggressive attitude all 48 mins.

I believe T-Mac stated that the doctors told him he couldn't really do any more damage to the knee by playing on it. It's just T-Mac being T-Mac, he always starts off the season slow, compounded with him not being 100%. Don't act like this is anything out of the ordinary for the guy.

That's a lot of hate towards the guy. I'd be happy to have him back in Toronto if the salaries somehow worked!

His knee is not 100%. Knees don't just magically become better again. It takes a lot of time before it's ever 100%. And even before that happens, he'll need to be ready mentally as well. If he is scared of landing on his left knee, it's the same thing as it still being injured.

And by the way, "always starts off the season slow"? Are you even a Rockets fan? McGrady tore up the league last year before his elbow injury. He led the league in scoring after 8 games before going down, iirc.

When he went to Phoenix he said that he seen the doctor that morning before the game and he felt better.

Maybe he should go back

It would of been interesting to see T-Mac play on a team like the Knicks, Bulls, or Heat in the 1990s

The one thing I don't like about T-Mac is that low keyness, at times that is "cool" because of the smoothness and effect of the play he would make, but as the usual demeanor for him? Can't quite have that.

From what I understand the Doctor simply confirmed what McGrady was doing...playing to strengthen his knee...was the best course.

He'll have an MRI tomorrow and we'll see whats up. He really needs to shut it down for a few weeks. Him hobbling around isn't working. He admits his start is horrific. Look lets just give him the benefit of the doubt here. His knee is hurt. He needs to rest it. When he comes back...if he is still struggling then there is something more. But you can't expect guys like McGrady to be effective on one knee.

T-Mac needs to take the year off. He has not been healthy in years, maybe a year off will really help this team in the long run.

Take the year off, have the Rockets stink it up and earn a lottery spot and go for it on T-Mac's last year.
