[Chron]Tracy Will Consider Sitting Out

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6127758.html

I told myself I was going to give myself this road trip to see how things were going to go and when it ends, I was going to talk to everybody and make a decision,” McGrady said.“I think I need it (time off). I felt like I had to be out here for the start of the season because our schedule was so tough. I didn’t want us to get in a hole. But looking forward, I think we have enough talent on this team if I was to sit out and we get Shane (Battier) back, I think we’ll be fine.

My mentality is to try not play the whole season the way I am now. If it takes some sitting down, that’s what I’m going to have to do.

I don't know how other people feel about this and if they will bash him but I really like T-Mac's approach.

He looks like a shade of his fromer self out there and he knows it.

No way I want a T-Mac that can't get off the ground and is so slow in the playoffs , he needs to rest when the schedule allows it so he can get back at 100%.

December:
Wed 03 vs LA Clippers
Fri 05 vs Golden State
Mon 08 @ Memphis
Tue 09 vs Atlanta
Fri 12 @ Golden State
Sat 13 @ LA Clippers
Tue 16 vs Denver
Fri 19 vs Sacramento
Sat 20 @ Minnesota
Mon 22 @ New Jersey

IMO this is the stretch where we need to sit him out , He will have time from December 1st until December 22nd , thats 22 days.
Then we can go from there , we will see if he will come back or not because we have a very tough 3 game stretch after this.

Tue 23 @ Cleveland
Fri 26 @ New Orleans
Sat 27 vs Utah

We can easily... um... SHOULD easily win all ten of those.

I hope T-Mac sits.

(And we start Von Wafer)

I don't see how you can bash him. I give him credit for trying and I give him credit for understanding that he had to be in there while Battier was hurt. When Battier comes back Mac can sit and get that knee right so that in January...we are good to go and in position to snag that #2 seed.

We have all said things about Mac on this board negatively. But you have to give him credit for simply understanding what had to be done and doing it. He'll never the leader the team needs and may never be as great as he was in his first year in Houston but he is a gamer with an understanding of the big picture. We needed him. Now that Battier is coming back McGrady can get that knee healed up.

Tracy has shown a bit of grit this first few weeks into the season, playin pretty much on one leg and having to use games to work himself back into shape.....we can just slide ron into that 2 spot and start Shane...should work out ok i would think? It'll make our defense amazing too with both those guys on the floor at once!!

T-Mac does deserve a bit of a rest to let his body recover a bit more and maybe do some sort of weight training to get his leg a bit stronger!

I don't mind him missing the games as a precautionary move, or in terms of healing his injury, but what I'm worried about is, that it's not the type of injury that gets better with healing for just a 1-2 week stretch. He'll just sit out missing games and come back when his knee clearly won't be that much better, and he'll have put on more weight considering his work ethic and he comes back even slower. I'd say it's best he plays on it, but I really don't know what's going on in his body...

Tmac's presence in the game is scoring and distributing the ball. If he can't play, then you guys should consider activating Steve Francis. He once was the scoring leader of the team.

That was before he got hurt. Francis sucks. I'm sad to admit.

Francis is injured? Since when? Yeah, same type of "injury" as Knicks' Starbury.

It's the same lingering knee injury that had him contemplating retirement in NY and caused him to pork up.

We have no chemistry. Its to the point where if we make our open shots we are gonna win. If we don't we lose.

I think Artest needs to be the lone perimeter scorer for a while with Battier taking the defensive assignments to free up Artest.

McGrady shouldn't be playing at all. There are other ways to get in shape and strengthen that knee and he needs to be doing those. Like I said...its a step in the right direction that he understood what he had to do and he is simply waiting on Battier to come back before taking a seat.

Francis will be activated when a PG is injured so just wish that Rafer or Aaron gets injured and you will see Stevie activated and ready to play. I say we give him a chance. Everyone hate on Alston and wish he gets injured against the Heat!!!!

I don't like Rafer but if he gets hurt for a long period of time we are doomed , Brooks will be a starter and we won't have his scoring off the bench and Francis I don't count on him at all , I don't know how can anyone be optimstic after what we saw from him last year.

Even if he gets healthy he hasn't played real basketball in 2 years.

So you want Alston to get injured in the Heat game so we can activate Francis, am I reading this right?

Where was Francis when Alston got suspended? He was in his suit.

I doubt Francis comes back, if he does it will be around March, this is what I think, not quite sure. Alston shot may be off, but he is running the offense and I want brooks to come off the bench and look to score.

This is a joke, right? If not, it is incredibly stupid.

While Alston is a sketchy shooter, he does run the offense well. Without him in there our ball movement suffers greatly, and when our ball movement suffers we lose. And, as others pointed out, removing him will hurt our depth by pushing Brooks to the front.

Brooks, we need his scoring and energy off the bench.

Wishing injuries on one's own team? FAIL.
