Dunk like he use to I mean.......no fear type dunks. He still seems to easily get to the rim...but he goes for finger roll or layup all the time.
I'm sure he can still elevate and throw it down...but when will it be?

2points is 2 points.
I rather him stay safe and finger roll then try and dunk

Re: Can Tmac still dunk?

Great question. Since his rehab, McGrady's offense has been in tact. He's been shooting fairly well and has been aggressive getting to the basket. However, I must admit that he looks like Dikembe Mutombo when he tries to finish the basket.
The good thing is that none of our fans have voiced a complaint. As long as McGrady shows that he can get to the basket and shoot with a decent percentage, we could care less.

Re: Can Tmac still dunk?
I'm just waiting for a breakout game for everyone to remember Tmac hasn't gone anywhere and is still an elite shooting guard. Shame he probably won't make the allstar game...that will fuel his fire. Perhaps he'll need to go on a mission before Febrary and start destroying teams and get his legendary status back. He isn't a Paul Pierce type star...he's a superstar in Kobe's league when he is fully healthy can produce magic.

Re: Can Tmac still dunk?
No he can't dunk like he used to and it isn't fair to expect him to.
I get what you're saying about his finishes at the rim, but barring a major setback, I expect him to gradually get more lift back as the year progresses and be throwing them down again by playoff time. I would venture to say that it is a combination of working his way back from injury and pacing himself.
Like TMU said, the fact that he is taking the ball to the rim is encouraging enough in itself.

Just doing my part to add to the irony around here. You know, since we've got dudes named "T-Mac United" and "TMACFORMVP" as his biggest bashers, I figured having someone named "T-Wack" as one of his few supporters would bring even more confusion to this place.

Re: Can Tmac still dunk?
lol, it's more frustration rather than hate. You really think we don't want what's best for McGrady, or what's best for the team? I used to think the guy could do no wrong, shoot 38%? Oh well, he still had "x" amount of points and it was his teammates fault they either didn't get the victory or came up short. Over the years when you begin to understand the game more, and realize the flaws your best player may have, it sets to dawn on you, especially when your favorite player is McGrady. A player that's been criticized for not giving his all, settling for jump-shots in big games, being arguably the biggest loser in the NBA when it comes to playoff success and overall just underachieving knowing McGrady is one of the most talented players to have EVER played the game.
It's not hate, it's realizing he wont be the same player he used to be in his Orlando days, first year in Houston, hell even in 2007. And that's not a bad thing, because he still has the capability to be a 20/5/5 player in this league, and one of the top perimeter players, only behind Kobe, LeBron and Wade in the league. The most frustrating part is, aside from the injuries is his mindset, or approach to the game. He settles, he defers too much when he has a mis-match, and for as high an IQ player that he is, he's not realizing for the Rockets to get where they want to be, he has to play to the highest level he possibly can, not thinking Artest/role players will take his scoring role, but for himself to play the level he knows he can, and the rest of the team following suit. T-Mac, when his mind is right and his body is allowing, has the most impact on this team, and how far they'll go.
That's the frustrating part, as a team and an individual, he and we as a team can be so much better. We go as far as he's healthy. It's still relatively early, and I do jump the gun at times, especially after a loss that should not have occurred, but it's never been the talent of this team holding them back, it's been their mindset. I'm questioning whether it'll ever change.
