McGrady: Petrified but don't count me out.

ABRIDGED
IS it physical? Is it mental? It really doesn’t matter. One word tells you all you need to know about Tracy McGrady’s state of mind during the first half of this season.

Petrified.

“I was actually petrified at times to go to the basket or to have a fast break and to jump off my leg. I was,” McGrady said with emphasis as if he needed to convince anyone.

...

McGrady has vowed to return with a vengeance.

“I know how good I am, and I know when I come back at the end of the season, I promise you, it is definitely going to be a different story,” McGrady said.

Criticize all you want, he says, and if you want to make McGrady laugh, tell him he is washed up.

“That’s funny, that’s real funny,” McGrady said.

We’ll see who laughs last when McGrady returns. It’s about time he took a break.

This dude is just waaaay too honest. Seriously, just think of all the times that he has made himself look bad because he tells the media how he really feels instead of what they want to hear. It just isn't macho for him to admit some of these things he thinks.

...of course this could be just another "escapegoat"

Seriously some people are just too damn hard on him. The dude plays fantastic during the playoffs. You can get on him for saying stupid stuff to the media but you can't ask much more from him in the playoffs.

I don't think believe he's washed up, but I'm not very confident he's going to be very effective this season. Wade struggled last season due to a similar surgery but is having a bounce back year this year. I'm not sure T-Mac is going to able to be 100% by season's end. I think he'll still bring it in the playoffs because he'll probably take a pain killer if needed but the chemistry is the concern.

I am confused. Is he coming back full strength at the end of the season? Or does he say he'll be full strength by the end of the season? If so we can't expect to get home court in the first round...hell we may barely make the playoff. So how exactly does being healthy in late in the season gonna help us.

Iggy, what's your point (and why were both your options the same)? Are you suggesting you'd rather he keep playing like he has been and hope that we luck into him magically healing by season's end, all in the name of home court advantage? I'm confused about your alternative(s) and why you'd want it(them).

I wanna know if he is coming back full strength when he comes back in 2 weeks. Or if he won't be full strength till the end of the season. He talked about coming back with a vengeance at season's end.

Well first off I wouldn't put much stock in what T-Mac says, ever. Secondly, I do not see T-Mac being healthy this season if Wade last year was any indication. And definitely not within 2 weeks. It would be silly to expect him to be @ 100% in 2 weeks. What is he going to do, rub holy water on it?

Same old tune. His knee is bothering him, but not the extent that he's become what he has been this season, he can EASILY be 20+/5+/5+ he just has to be not "petrified." That will be the biggest difference in two weeks, and I doubt that mentality changes. We'll see.
