From purely a financial perspective, we had the guy from CBAFAQ.com on today to talk about the situation with Yao and TMac.
He basically said, if Yao and McGrady are deemed unable to compete this season, the Rockets have about $6Mil to spend (6 for Yao and 6 for Tracy) without counting on the cap.
Teams cannot combine injury exceptions to sign a player, so the Rockets can't use $12M to go after Hedo or use that for Ron.
This really cleared things up from this perspective, since reading the frikking CBA gave me a headache.

Re: Rockets could lose Yao for season
Ya not good news. Should let yao rest more. But that article has certain leg to stand on that Rockets management might be exaggerating the issue to reduce yao's value hoping yao will sign an extension. Remember what happen to landry? Rocket management claimed Landry has knee issue and made some saga out of it? There is a precedence and can't deny the same thing may happen again.
