That cann happen because you save 7.5 million by trading Battier for expiring contracts it brings your total salaries committed to 10.8 (Brooks,Lowry,Anderson). Depending on the cap number ill use 52 million as the cap. Gives you 41.2 million in cap space meaning the max would be about 15.6 million this leaves you at 31.1 million (Yao+Johnson for the max) then you would have 10.1 million to resign Scola which would be more than enough. Also i think Yao could take a pay cut of some sort maybe back load the contract for you to be able to resign Amir, your depth chart would be,

im just saying it gives you option, also we could add a 1st round pick the only problem is we traded our 2010 to miami and its protected till 2014. So the earliest would be a 2012 with protection so miami gets theres and you get yours 2 years after.

If the cap is $52M then, the cap room available is only $3M which is less than MLE.
In order to sign an Allstar with max contract, rockets have to renounce the rights to Scola and Lowry to make room for it. If rockets managed to sign (eg Johnson) and his salary will be $15.6M, then rockets total salary will be $51~52M. Rockets can only fill out the remaining roster with league minimum salary scale. Rockets going this route does not have the MLE and will not be able to re-sign Scola and Lowry. In other words, Rockets will gain an Allstar (Johnson) at the expense of Scola, Lowry and Battier.
This is an option for Rocket management but a difficult decision to make weighing the impact of an Allstar vs contribution from Scola, Lowry and losing Battier too.
