Is it personal and nothing else?

Post#1 » by AR3 » Mon Dec 28, 2009 4:51 pm

Just wondering guys, this whole T-mac vs. management situation, is the team just taking it out on him because of past playoff failures or his being injury prone. It seems like they have no interest at all in him, even if Tracy came back and averaged his 20 ppg. It just seems very unprofessional and strangely vengeful.

I can't put my finger on it, I honestly don't think Adelman has anything against him on a personal level. It just seems that he doesn't want to put up with his crap that he pulled last season, and you can't blame him. They want McGrady 100% ready, Adelman's stated that he can't afford him to pull some of the stunts he did last season, because they already have an established system that they're playing to, I don't know, we'll see what the future beholds.

Do you think that's the case, or would they rather no have him at all, even if he was still the same player he was in his prime?

No we're not trading him for Eddy Curry.

Stranger things have happened. lol but im not here for that. Just seems like management is being really spiteful towards a player who wants to help them.

Since you have Marbury as your avatar you know that the Knicks did the same thing and more to him.

Right, and it WAS personal in that case. But besides some emotional issues, I dont see why people have so much hate for Tracy.

I would hate to think that the Rockets' issues with McGrady are anything other than professional. I think the Rockets are looking at it from a basketball point of view. They're trying to get establish a team for the future while staying competitive. If McGrady can't contribute to that goal then he won't play.

Nah its personal between Adelman and McGrady. It won't end well but it needs to end and soon b/c I feel they are holding this team back. I hear what Battier is saying about whoever is dressed is who they are rolling with but I really do think that the young players on this team are of the mentality that they just need to hold on until McGrady comes back. If he isn't coming back Adelman needs to let the team and McGrady know b/c this is unfair to the team and even to McGrady to some extent. Its not asking much to know what your future with the team entails.

It seems to me that the Rockets are saying to Tracy "You had your chance"

yea. I hope it resolves soon. As much as i did not like Tmac's stunts last season, i think he should know what his future holds - the team should also be informed of the situation. If it was another fringe player, it probably would not affect the team as much as if it is the star player. At this point of time, it seems like the management is starting to handle the situation badly. Adelman is giving stranger reasons each time he is being asked regarding Tmac's situation and Morey is just putting it on the coach. i'm not sure if this is the best way to handle it (is it the NBA way of doing things?). Most of these sort of situations are pretty clear-cut in the English soccer other than the Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid situation. If the player is unwanted, he is transfer listed and sold. Usually fans would not be left guessing what is happening... the NBA just seems to like putting everyone in suspense. The story is getting old and annoying. week in week out, management is finding reasons and Tmac sulking to the media. it seems like they all work in different Houstons. Can't they both sit down in toyota center and clear up the doubts and misunderstandings? it's starting to be like a marriage that is in serious need of counselling.

Could it be the media exaggerating the situation? Obviously it is TOP news in the NBA world especially since the rockets get a lot of attention worldwide. I'm not sure how the media works in the US but is there a possibility that they could be stirring something big out of something small or nothing? Perhaps Tmac and management have some understanding which the media is just distorting facts, reporting crap and controversies for readers?

I take it you didn't agree with me in the Ariza thread, Max?
