Why doesn't Joey Dorsey have Cook's Roster Spot?

Post#1 » by Rocketz973 » Wed Jan 6, 2010 11:25 pm

Why does Brian Cook still have a roster spot? We all know he's horrible and provides nothing but the three point shot. Joey Dorsey is leading the NBDL in rebounds, can block shots and provide an athleticism as a big man. Is there a reason why he does not have Cook's roster spot?
Thanks,

Because Dorsey needs the experience playing in the D league.. What's the point bringing him in to let him sit and watch.. he needs all the playing time he can get..

Having Dorsey alongside Hayes and Landry is completely redundant. And he's clearly worse than the latter two.

3.5 million dollars. That's what Cook is guaranteed this season. If the Rockets "cut" him they still owe him the money. Reason 1.
Adelman commented that Dorsey didn't know either the offense or the defense during Preseason. Reason 2.
Turns out the Rockets didn't need Ray Lewis, they needed someone who could actually play basketball. Reason 3.
But the real reaon is Morey is a humongous genius. If every move worked perfectly,no one would ever want to deal w/him. But in drafting Dorsey,Morey made it appear he could make a mistake, thus encouraging other GMs to think they too could win a trade w/him. Pity the fool who falls for Morey's Rope-a-Dope. :)

Tisbee is right on all four counts.

A more practical reason, though, is that Dorsey can't stay out of foul trouble in the NBA. He's learning how to do that in the NBDL.

EDIT: Woo hoo! It only took 5+ years, but I finally made it to 2300 posts!
