Rockets pre-draft workout!

Post#1 » by Optimism Prime » Sun Apr 25, 2010 1:06 am

Per the DraftExpress twitter:

The Houston Rockets conducted the first known pre-draft workout today. 12 players present, including Aubrey Coleman, Wayne Chism and others.

The Rockets are one of the most active teams in the NBA in terms of collecting data on as many prospects as they can. They spare no expense.

My understanding is Houston does a combination of physical, athletic & psychological testing that far exceeds what most other NBA teams do.

You can see the results they've had in the Draft the past few years-- Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry, Budinger, etc. Their work clearly pays off.

I didn't know they were allowed to conduct it this early, and judging by these names are we gonna trade down? or perhaps buy another pick?

Coleman last year: 25.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.7 steals; 6-1.5 in shoes (same height as Ben/Eric Gordon, Delonte West, and Luther Head). 6-5 wingspan to make up for it.

Chism: 12.6p, 7.2r, 1.1a, 1.1s, 1.3 blocks. Not really athletic; ability to make it in the NBA depends on shooting (compared him to Brian Cook).

Neither projected to go in either round by NBADraft.net or draftexpress.com.

DraftExpress twitter again:

That's only underclassmen RT @NickKotsatos: Thought NBA teams couldn't start workouts till April 29? How did Houston already get workout in?

So... probably undrafted guys we'll invite to training camp/send to the D-League.

DXpress just compared Aubrey Colemen to Luther Head.

That was low. Real low.

Judging by his stats and after reading a few paragraphs Aubrey Coleman looks like a ball hog
