Steve Nash's parents are both from the UK. His brother is from the UK. Steve Nash was born in South Africa 2 weeks after his parents moved from England. Steve Nash is a citizen of the UK. So yes, Steve Nash is a Euro. He was raised in Canada but he is in fact British.

Basketball-wise Nash could be considered American-Canadian, really Canadian system is American anyway. But he is a Euro nationality-wise also along with Canadian. Scola is both Argentina and Spanish nationality so he can be called a Euro and basketball-wise Scola should be considered a Euro because he was developed in Europe.


NBA fans tend to get too obsessed with labeling players from a certain country or nationality and in claiming who is or is not "Euro". For example Sarunas Jasikevicius is a player all NBA fans claim to be a Euro developed player and yet he played high school and college basketball in USA and is really mainly an American developed player with Euro nationality.

Kobe Bryant is universally called an American developed player and yet he also began playing in a youth club in Italy and played there several years. Since he did not play in NCAA his development is equal in Italy if not more than it was in America.

I know. I hate it when people call South American players like Scola, Ginobli or Yao a bunch of Euros.

Manu and Scola are Euros. They have European families, European nationality, and were mainly developed in Europe. So it's pretty hard to claim they are not Euros. They are Argentines that are also Euros and basketball-wise they are definitely Euros.

Nationality wise he is Euro. He has Danish nationality and that is where his family comes from. He also has Australian nationality and that is where he was developed basketball-wise. So he can be considered a Euro nationality-wise like Nash, but also like Nash is not a Euro basketball-wise.

In basketball development he is Australian.
