Rockets Announcer Team

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Wed Aug 11, 2010 2:29 am

Bill Worrell...love the guy. He's a big part of the Rockets experience. I'll always associate his voice with some of my favorite basketball memories...but is it time for the Rockets to be looking for a replacement?

Last season he seemed like he was having a harder time keeping up. On the telecasts with Matt Bullard on color he seemed OK; but I think that is because Bull was carrying him. His broadcasts with Clyde...not so great.

So who could replace Bill in the Play-by-Play seat?

The Van Chancellor idea has some legs. But can he talk fast enough? It's a legitimate, practical issue, I'm afraid. I'd be willing to listen to him staying one possession behind if they got him to do dramatic readings of classic literature.

Van's the best announcer we've had working for us.

And since when was he a possession behind on announcing? I always thought he tended to be calling the possession out before it happened.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?
A:Ask a stock market analyst or your financial advisor

I just meant his drawl slows him down a little. (Not by a whole possession, though. That was hyperbole.) Most of the time he's ok, but have you ever heard him try to call a Suns game? It's DAMNED funny.

NOT Calvin Murphy.......couldn't stand listening to him.
Clyde is horrible too......he just rewords everything Worrell is saying or tells us how great everyone is, when clearly they are not. (Rafer makes that teardrop all of the time)....no Clyde...he almost never made it.

I do like Bullard and Worrell, but I do think Worrell is getting to the point of needing to be replaced, just no idea who I'd want.....unless JVG wants to give up his national broadcasting :P

As long as Clyde isn't announcing I'll be happy.

I think that Bull is a given to continue as the Color Commentator.

Not sure what I think about Van Chancellor, but I'd be open to it!
