they may be first but they dont have the picks den wants. i say let him go. it takes talent and chemistry to win. i think we have that with our current roster. melo can rot in jersey for all i care. i dont hate the guy, i wouldnt mind him on the team if it didnt clean out our roster. its not abt winning to him at all. if it did he wouldnt go to jersey or new york.

I don't see the logic of Carmelo going to New Jersey. What's left of new jersey besides Lopez in that trade? How is that a better team than Denver is right now? They don't have a chauncey billups caliber pg there.

In some ways, I am relieved that Melo will be traded to Nets - the best situation if not coming to Rockets. The Nets will then complete with Knicks in the East and can push Knick one spot down in the East meaning Rockets' 2011's rights to swap pick gets more valuable!

I also would like to see how the current Rockets play as a team before any major trade.

The guy we should really go after isn't Melo, it's Andre Iguadala. Look at this roster

Brooks
Lee
Melo
Scola
Yao

or
Brooks
Martin
Melo
Patterson
Yao

Problem is that there is only one ball on the court Brooks, Scola,Yao, Martin all need 10+ shots every single game, there just no enough possession to satisfy everyone, and as good as we look good on the paper with Melo,it's only the offensive end, Brooks+Martin+Melo can't defend anything IMO.

The only guy we should really target is Andre Iguadala that is capable of being a really good defender and can defend 3 position.

Iggy isnt in either line-up, and I doubt the 76ers will want Scola for Iggy, they already have Brand. Scola is 30 with a new contract

Melo isn't the perfect 3 for this team, but who is?

Iguodala is overpaid and can't shoot, which means no spacing.
Gerald Wallace is injury prone and can't shoot.
Granger would fit nicely, but like Iguodala and Wallace he's not really a go-to-guy (which still might be the most fitting need) and it seems like you'd have to grossly overpay to get him.
Melo, after getting his extension will be paid $20mil+/season and while being a go-to-guy he certainly needs a certain amount of shots, which would make him a bad fit.

The problem is that there seems to be a need for a go-to-guy, however any go-to-guy will have to put up a decent amount of shots, making him a bad fit.
So unless the Rockets are this one in a million team, that can win without a 'certified' go-to-guy sooner or later Morey will have to retool the roster.
Let's hope the Hornets and Pacers suck this year.

Battier is the perfect 3 for this system.

The Knicks conceivably can trade a player for a first-round pick, and there is some interest around the league for Anthony Randolph, the third-year forward who came to New York in the David Lee sign-and-trade with Golden State. According to a source, the Rockets would consider trading a first-round pick for Randolph.

It doesnt make any sense trade battier instead of martin if you are getting anthony, martin and anthony together would never work. Plus Nuggets don't need Shane, we do need him.

If morey offers this nuggets will accept for sure, young prospect in budinger, one future first pick, one great player like martin and an expiring.

Brooks-Anthony-Battier-Scola-Yao
Lowry-Lee-Lee-Hayes-Miller

and we go all the way to the championship

A theory:
Morey is primarily talking Carmelo trade to get other GMs to be less nervous about dealing with him.

Discuss.
Morey 2020.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?

This is legitimately credible...as well as being how I prefer to think of the entire Joey Dorsey saga.
