Morey traded the wrong guy. You trade your young, athletic starting SF for a backup SG? It's cool that he liked Courtney Lee and all, but I'm not sure Lee is an improvement over Ariza, nor does he make the team more versatile. The Rockets had a more balanced roster with Ariza.

Morey seems like a smart guy, but what exactly has he done to earn any type of "genius" label? He's made some solid acquisitions, you guys have some nice pieces... but at some point, you gotta make a splash. Hopefully you will.

But you just added another wing player for a future 1st... Why give away your 1st round picks when you're trying to re-build? Doesn't make any sense to me.

The pick is lotto protected. It's unlikely that we'd grab anyone with a pick that will be at best 15 that's better then Terrence Williams anyways.
The Ariza trade I view was made because Morey had confidence in Budinger being a legit backup, not to mention that Battier has more value to this team purely through being a mentor. Needless to say, Budinger has not fulfilled these expectations in the slightest, but hopefully Terrence can.
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?

He has the athleticism so he can play SF too. Hopefully T Will can play good defense as an SF like Ariza. But it would be like playing with 3 wing players if you have him as an SF. Like we do with Chase Budinger as well with Courtney Lee in the SF position. Morey knew he messed up trading Ariza since Budinger is pretty bad defensively as an SF. And when his shots arent going down. He's a liability on both ends, That's why he got terrence williams. Here's to hoping T Williams can be a good backup for Battier.

I pretty much agree. However, he might have also known that he could just shoot for another SF (being one of the most easily filled and least important positions in the league) after shoring up the SG position, especially since we have injury prone Martin there, and had Budinger as a potentially capable backup (ha!) at SF. I'm also hoping he can back up Battier. We'll see. I wish he was 6'8", too, but I also wish I was making 40,000,000 a year.
Morey 2020.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?

That's it?
