is this a crazy thought?
ok, please don't attack me, im asking a question
would it be crazy to trade scola (and maybe hill/courtney lee or mr 36/ other pieces...maybe brooks even though i love him) for some caproom and picks, and then overpay for deandre jordan this summer so lac doesnt match?(i played against dj in highschool...hes from houston so he MAY not mind comin back here)...
i know we need a star, but havin a young quality starting center with our young core would eventually help attract a star, because i assume star bball players know size helps win championships
losin scola would suck, but i'd kill to move hayes to pf...hayes and dj as a starting frontcourt could be amazing...hayes as the best on ball defender and dj blockin shots as an off ball defender
also note in my thinkin we couldnt lose patty p....feel free to make me feel like an idiot for posting this

Re: is this a crazy thought?
i still dont think its a horrible idea though, every game i watch makes me wish we had a big lanky 7 footer that would play help d and block shots so p****** like patty mills would get their shiz sent into the top row....i just am sick of havin no shot blocker

on a serious note, i dont think we should trade half our roster (2 or 3 of our best players) for caproom, picks, and jordan. hayes and jordan would be a sick defensive duo but very little offensive production. even for the future that's a risky starting frontcourt, puts a lotta pressure on wing scoring. we have more than enough assets to make trades before the deadline and this offseason (if no lockout). and if morey is a real jedi knight he'll turn this team into contenders by next season.

one thing tho, if we're contenders next season, not only should we resign hayes, but he has to get at least 25mpg, mostly at pf. he's in his prime and cannot stop getting better. it's written in his dna to get better every single year of his fu**in life. MUST RESIGN HAYES. and have to find a center OR someone who can play center that can score, defend, block shots (not that 1.1bpg crap), and rebound. morey has a duty to utilize hayes' abilities to the fullest, which means he has to turn this team into a contender by the end of this offseason.

Re: is this a crazy thought?
ya i understand the pressure on the wing scoring but this is a rebuild fix, not a win now trade, but i wasnt saying half of our roster in the trade...in a perfect world i just meant scola othercontracts to make it match for an expiring big and/or picks...
and i just meant hayes as the starter for now....with the introduction of the super team by miami im GUESSING stars will hop to teams quality at the important positions....*c and pg*....lowry dj and maybe mr 36 as ur pg center and sg arent bad pieces to attract a young star
note...if we ever trade hayes i will be pissed...as a houstonian, chuck hayes for mayor

Re: is this a crazy thought?
Jordan would be a great fit on the Rockets, but it's not worth trading that much for him. Trading Scola is one of the worst moves they could make right now because that would give them absolutely NO post scoring at all. Right now the Rockets have a lot of solid pieces and great role players, but they are lacking a true star. There's no need to blow up the team completely. They just have to find a way to get a star.

Re: is this a crazy thought?
Not a crazy thought but I wouldn't do it. While I agree we don't need to blow up the team, I think you guys are kind of underrating how many changes we need. Most of the team does need to go. We don't have a good mix of athletes, size, and defense and we have a lot of one dimensional players. Chase can shoot but he cant play d, Brooks can score but can't get the team involved, scola can score but he isn't the best defender either, chuck is obviously a beast but his size limits what he can do, Kevin martin does one thing and one thing only and we know what that is. All the elite teams have players that are good both ways, how many people do we have that we can count on to be good on both ends of the court?

Re: is this a crazy thought?
Scola, Martin and Brooks for first round picks and cap room is something I have been saying that for a week or two now. Martin would be a good fit on the Wolves and Scola would be a good fit for the Pacers.

Re: is this a crazy thought?
watching us getting kill on boards against dallas last night make me want to pay dalembert (30 yrs old) 10m/year
face it we are not going to get marc gasol or deandre jordan through free agency
we may get a chance to get spencer hawes

I like the general idea... not necessarily trading scola away and hoping we end up with deandre jordan (very risky, similar to new york playing the lebron sweepstakes 4 years away). But I do commend you for the thought process... We have managed to put together a good squad. A great squad to accommodate a superstar, the only problem is we forgot the superstar. It will take a blow from a roster to bring in a superstar talent, even a solid center.

ya i woke up and began thinking, even with djs family living here he probably wouldn't want to leave la anyways..
1)it is still la, the city of the stars, even if theyre the clippers...2)with eric gordon and blake griffin they have a better young core than we have...3)i've never heard any rumors about him wanting to leave or being unhappy
but i jus really want a "big black guy" that will block shots and intimidate b****es...

Hey, remember two things.
1) It is a lot harder to learn to play D in the NBA than O.
2) Chase is in his second year. I know we have a fascination with White guys that shoot. (Nachbar, Novak, Andersen, Budinger) However I think he has a lot of upsides. Plus he's a low contract.
