Jerry Sloan once got in the face of Wes Unself after being knocked down a multitude of times and being dared not to get up. In his defense, if you don't alert your adversaries to your presence in this league, then you might as well not be. In no way did Jazz's "dirty play" come close to the same degree of violence that defined the playing style of the Ewing/Van Gundy Knicks, and yet Van Gundy is still regarded here as an excellent defensive coach, and let's not go with the Auerbach Celtics and Daly's Pistons.

All tough players played a little rough. Bill Cartwright's flying elbows got him a wide berth, as Houston fans we should know that after what he did to Hakeem's eye and got him to wear goggles. Horace Grant refused to wear them at one point in the 90/91 season because folks kept on pulling them off when the refs looked the other way. For as long as I can remember, playing in the post meant being subjected to all kinds of chicanery when the refs couldn't see exactly what was going on.

League play has steadily declined in physical contact over the years. As Jerry Sloan has been doing it "the old way" since his playing days, I think he's simply applying what he learned in Chicago when he was a player and never got the memo from David Stern to change his ways. I think the rivalry between the two teams might have escalated the physicality of the matchups some, but we as fans might also see and remember mild slights to be greater than what they really are.

Stockton and Malone, two of the greatest in their positions, not winning a title, is the single greatest testament to the Chicago Bulls and the Houston Rockets during that era. However, it's still a shame that many whom had the talent and the drive deserving of a ring, did not.

F*** Malone (who raped a 13 yr old girl while at Louisiana Tech), F*** Stockton, and F*** the Jazz.

I'm torn on it. On one hand, its always nice to flush the toilet. On the other hand, its hard to be in favor of anything that makes utah less easy to hate.

Why in 10 years, our children may not instantly recognize salt lake city as a festering cesspool with decent ski slopes!

Hold on now. Spend a week in South Lake Tahoe skiing all day and partying all night. By the time you get back to Houston you feel dirty and long for a cleansing run at Memorial Park and an STD test.

Put simply, skiing is more fun the watching the futility of the Utah Jazz' existence. It's more fun than telling Jazz fans their team has won as many rings as the LA Clippers.

Seems like you might have some problems with shrinkage. Then again, I've never tried it.

With Sloan gone and how they were doing with Phoenix tonight, they are gonna start to losing even more. They will need a better shooting guard to compete and they aren't getting one without going over the cap. I don't think the ownership can afford it. Their bench is also thin as hell. They are gonna at best, peak at the 2nd round again and after that, DWill ought to look for greener pastures.

I have a thing for respecting old folks and longevity, being Chinese and all. Don't mind me.

2012 - derron's not happy with utah... he can opt for free agency... which means next season we get to have 1,000,000 mock trades because utah is trying to get value before derron leaves...

but why wait til next season, i'll start now!

Utah trades
G: Derron Williams

Houston trades
G: Aaron Brooks - utah will need a new pg. brooks is available
F: Chase Budinger - decent back up
F: Jordan Hill - the whole potential thing
F: Jared Jeffries - expirer make the deal work
2011 1st round pick - weak class but don't tell utah that...

edit - and memo might even be available. (as i said, its not easy to get a center, may have to take what we can get). might have to adjust the trade that will feature brooks and yao ming
