We are mired in mediocrity.
Look, with Yao going down, (again) no one expects us to make the playoffs. We need to do something, but what? There are no major trades we can make, do we wait for Yao (again?) or do we start to rebuild. Do we do this on the fly? Or do we gut and start over? With the uncertainty of the CBA and a lockout looming, there are no certain answers.
And the draft looks shallow this year. It looks like our N.Y. pick is useless, unless we can trade it off to a team lower in the draft than ourselves, but to what end? So much hinges on Carmelo at the moment, (and I don't think that he is the answer to our problems!) and the fallout of his trade/non-trade will certainly have ramifications for some teams, however I think we will remain fairly inactive on that front.
I guess in summary, I say we play the year out, see where the CBA leads us, and make moves based on that. It could be a blessing in disguise, a shorter season gives Yao more time to heal, we make the run NEXT year that we were supposed to make THIS year.
