especially when you look at garnett, pierce, rondo all are good rebounder at their position

He's only managed 8 rebounds per game ONE time in his career.(this year doesn't count. Not enough minutes)

plus regardless of if he will deserve it or not, you just know, following the trend in the league, there are teams out there that are going to overpay him.

Kendrick is one of those guys who thinks he is really really good but is actually a bum. What a moron for turning down that kind of money.

I want no part of Kelvin Cato part duece. He'll get exposed once he doesn't 3 good and 1 great guys playing with him.

Stay far far away from that man.

imo, a prime Kelvin Cato can find good money if he was in the league right now lol. I'm not saying this guy is going to take us to the promise land and maybe your right, maybe he is overrated because he is surrounded by such great talent. But just stating the facts, his post defense and presence is one of the best in the league. His man to man defense against other bigs is one of the best in the league. He is also a big body and a solid shot blocker. Why is he so valuable? because there aren't many like him.

Is he going to get overpayed? yeah im pretty sure he will. Will he be worth the upgrade from Chuck Hayes? I love Chuck and he is a great defender and honestly what separates Perkins from Hayes is just height and length. Offensively they are about on par. But that size and length does make a big difference.

there aren't that many options...

I'd rather throw money at Deandre Jordan. He can block, rebound, and FINISH at the rim. Or hell I'd give Marc Gasol the max before i give Perkins 10+ mil per year.

yes i will agree those are also options. its just a matter of who is going to be realistically available when the time comes. but the point is if we ever get to a scenario where Perkins is the only one the rockets are realistically able to get, do we go for it? with any centers really, whoever is available will have to be overpayed.

As far as Marc Gasol goes, i would love to have him in houston but yeah, he's going to be really expensive. I would think a max deal would be too much for him (12ppg 7rpb 1.7bpg) but that is the market and some team might just be willing to do it. and its hard to tell what the market will be for deandre jordan but he's not better than perkins. his upside is that he is younger and he has more potential but offensively he can "finish" as in he can dunk the ball when he's open. he doesn't have any post moves. defensively his athleticism helps him as a shot blocker but he is an average post defender.

so it's actually 4 years for 22 millions not 30 millions
then it's a different story
4 years 22 millions -> that's less than MLE

Long Arms Reach for the RimBy JOSH KRON
JUBA, Sudan — His first two attempts sprung off the back of the rim, the ball careening through the air, the crowd sighing loudly. Mangistu Deng, 16, dribbled back to halfcourt, pounding the ball for his final dunk of the night.

Deng called over a friend, who stood just in front of the foul line, stiff as possible, back to him. Then Deng took off like a grasshopper into the night and soared over his friend. The fans rose to their feet. Cellphone cameras clicked.

Mangistu Deng — slam-dunk champion, Juba City, 2011.
