Aww man... c'mon now. You know I've been riding with Obama from the jump. I've never been concerned with this nonsense.

I told Y'all, unless you want to get kicked Really hard, don't ride a Kangaroo.

And Paul Hogan is a national Icon, Our Taxation office has given him more than enough crap. There are plans to have him stuffed and placed next to Phar Lap at the Museum when he dies. Leave him alone.

I hear that they found Hoffa at the same time they got Bin Laden. Coincidence?

Edit: I also realised the other night, Our Prime Minister was in THE U.S. when 9/11 happened. Over in Australia, we call it 11/9 because we read the date Day, Month, Year. Anyhoo, IF you choose to believe the conspiracy theory bit, one might find it a tad convenient that one of America's staunchest allies "happens" to be there when the attack happened. Whenever the US asks Australia for help, we usually give it. This stupid war is costing Australia, and it's people too. The only people that are winning ARE the banks. They lend money, that can never really be repaid. I am all for supporting our troops, but is it really worth it. Especially because we don't know why we are there. (Well we do, a 3 letter word starting with the letter O!)

I'm not even sure Osama bin Laden was a real person from the jump. As far as I know, the guy we know as bin Laden could have been a paid actor. I've never met the man to say otherwise. I'm not saying that was the case, but I'm saying I wouldn't put it past the government.

Osama Bin Laden was real, and fairly known, long before most Americans even heard of him....or cared.

Not saying that I think it was some conspiracy omg. I'm saying I don't know, can't know, and thus, don't care. Kinda agree with CDR; the thing I DO know is that we lost two financial centers, and are still? In wars that have cost at least 1.15 trillion and over 900k lives, so it'd better have been worth it.

I care more about the possibility that we're over 200 trillion in debt because the gummint doesn't have anyone to hold itself to standardized accounting practices like the rest of us have to do.

Something else that would be nice... It's entirely possible that all these wars actually are in the national interest. It sure would be nice, if such is true, if wild and wacky things like... actually being upfront with us... not clamping down on their own citizenry while blowing up everyone elses'... taking votes on these matters and actually bothering to put forth some sort of real argument for what's being done and actually having public support for things that are being done...

Yeah, it's all a pipe dream. Yeah, it's wildly untenable, politically. But damnit...

Sure is nice just being an entry on a ledger.

I can't quite figure that out. The Government has accountants...lots of them. Like most folks, the government does whip out the credit card,or make a down payment....like most folks do when buying a house or a car.

The folks with clout, have rigged the system so they get to dodge taxes, shifting the load to us Po Boys. Their hired guns sucker us into voting for them like they were selling us hamburgers. Most Americans don't bother to think too much,so "logic" that fits on a bumper sticker,is good enough.
PT Barnum wrote the manual on American politics. There's a sucker born every minute.

Conspiracies? Well, you got Enron, various banking and S+L scandals,Wall Street scams that are basically Ponzi Schemes and Pyramid Schemes given the facade of Big Business.

We PAY the oil companies subsidies as they engage in price fixing and fraud. we vote for idiots because they look like TV models......which...they pretty much are.

You get what you deserve. The funniest part is that the folks most apt to buy into conspiracy theories are often the easiest to deceive.

A simple, logical test...IS IT COST EFFECTIVE. Generally, the paranoid folly some hold as truth,is WAY not cost effective. I have known people who worried that they were being tracked,monitored....and yet...nothing about them, was WORTH anyone spending 10 minutes to look at. Like, the CIA budgets $100,000 to watch some guy who lives in his van, doesn't vote, has no criminal record and no history of politics aside from talking about conspiracies if he's stoned.

Not...cost effective.

bin Laden was the son of a very wealthy, well known Saudi family and was in Afghanistan fighting the Russians. That's been a pretty established reality and plenty of people who paid attention to that war in Afghanistan, knew who he was. His role in Al Qaeda, has not been disputed in the Middle East by anyone, friend or foe.

He said, his objective was to cost the USA a trillion $ by upsetting things...and he did that. Do you think there's some angle where the USA wants to blow a Trillion Bucks? I don't see any way that pays off. Not even a wingnut like Glen Beck claims that bin Laden is a hoax. Often...reality is pretty much just what it appears to be.

trust me on that 8-)

That could very well be true, and if I had to put my money on something, I would say that was the case. All I am saying is, I don't know for certain that is the case. Any information that I (and I am assuming you) get on Ladi Dadi is from the media/internet. So as far as I know, someone is pissing on my head and tellin me it's rain...

The original post was done hastily at work. I had a long day and what was suppose to be a good intentioned rebuttal quickly stream rolled into mangled prose

The quick edit came after looking at the post and being not happy with it, so I just truncated it... poorly...

What I meant to say was something along the lines of the following:

A willful commitment in the act of imposing death on a sentient being is simply hard for me to stomach. The act of war, where the course of action is for both sides to impose the shortening of life towards the other side's youth. What we did to Afganistan, Iraq, Vietnam, etc etc is an act of war. To commit an act of war is to rationally bet that the talents of the casualties, i.e. our nation's children, to produce less than the act of immediate gains via the war. To say that when war is committed for any justifiable cause is to argue that a) the act is verifiably profitable, b) it will gain positive returns for the winner's future.

I find a) to be at best, an unknown, and b) simply false. War does not gain positive returns for anyone, even for the winner, because we have known from the time of history that the good always die young. In full scale conflict, it is only honest to presume that the brightest, and the best, die first.

The witch is not dead. The american government made the witch, and now we cheer only to have her make a few more.
