WT: Rockets prepared to trade for Paul w/o assurance

The Rockets, Celtics and Mavericks have told the Hornets that they are prepared to trade for Chris Paul without an assurance that he would sign a long-term deal.

Boston is believed to have the best potential offer out of those three teams since they would include Rajon Rondo.

Those so-called gambling teams would almost certainly beat any deal that the Knicks could offer, even though they are widely presumed to be Paul's preferred destination.

I doubt we get him, but something to talk about

I'd rather jump in on this to acquire Rondo in a 3 team trade. He isn't as good, but is cheaper and locked in to a contract. A trade could be based around these parameters, with some fillers:

Lowry and Scola to New Orleans

Paul to Boston

Rondo, O'Neal to Houston

I would rather keep Lowry than Rondo. Lowry can shoot the basketball. As much and Rondo have developed, he is still an extreme liability because he cannot consistently make an wide open 2 point jump shot.

But as far as Paul goes, i doubt it happens. ill just ignore it.

I think the idea would be to get them both. No reason to trade for one, keeping us in mediocrity. We either have to throw all the chips in to acquire both or go in to rebuild mode.

Did you look at the trade? Not sure why it's a pipe dream. Jermaine O'Neal is simply a filler to make salaries work.

For awhile I did not know what to think but I am now for getting Paul. Since he took a worse roster in the Hornets to playoffs while Rockets missed. Now I just don't want to give up much on someone that might not even stay. Also does Okafor come in the deal which to me is better then signing almost any big out there. **** I would not mind it if Trevor came to. but it will never happen.

The division/conference stuff is overrated. Especially when the team is run by the NBA and doesn't have a real owner. The Hornets would probably LOVE to trade to a division rival, scoop up all of their trade-able assets, and then watch Paul leave them with nothing as he signs in NY.

keep dreaming
fun to see all-star game like this

West vs East
C: ... vs Dwight
F: Dirk/Gasol vs Amare/Garnett
F: Durant vs LeBron/Melo/Pierce
G: Kobe vs Wade/JJ/Allen
G: Westbrook vs Rose/CP3/Deron/Rondo

so lopsided

Don't care about filler....don't want a has been around here...also, i don't want a pt. guard who can't make a wide open 6 ft jump shot on a consistent basis.

The Hornets have narrowed down their list of possible trade partners for Chris Paul to the Clippers, Warriors and Celtics, according to sources.

The Lakers, Mavericks and Rockets are also pushing for a trade, but are on the second tier.

According to sources, Golden State is offering Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Ekpe Udoh. The team would also amnesty Andris Biedrins in order to create cap space to reunite Paul with Tyson Chandler.

It's getting very interesting.

Just when i thought the Clippers had the best offer for Paul...here comes the Warriors...

If we're gonna do a rental, i'd rather it be for Howard and not including Lowry, but everyone else is fair game. Howard also would be leaving 30mil on the table if he doesn't re-sign with the team that traded for him...something he will to think hard about. Thus, the Rockets would have some leverage here.
