Chron Comments

Post#1 » by moofs » Fri Jan 27, 2012 7:05 pm

On the chronicle just now, I saw a comment stating that the value of the Rockets franchise would double if Morey was fired.

I thought Id take a quick heat check and see if we had any posters here that thought that right now and why.
Morey 2020.

I think that the average fan doesn't know who Morey is, or if they hear his name then they ask who he is. Yes, us diehard fans know and follow all of this; but we're not the average fan.

I think that whomever made that comment is still angry with Morey for something. Personally I suspect that it is either Rafer Alston or Aaron Brooks.

No, I don't think that it would matter one bit if he was fired in terms of team value.

Some dude in a bar the other night tried suggesting to me that we'd have been much better off with Brooks than with Lowry.

I naturally scoffed and suggested that Lowry is better than even Williams right now, which caused the bartender to laugh. :: shrug :: His justification was "that guy says so" followed by a point across the room to the guy that had made the Brooks 'argument'.
Morey 2020.

a) If Morey was fired today, we will start to do tank mode today. The regular season for this year and the next will be gone. We would start shipping off assets for draft picks. Our pay roll would look nicer. That's the only reason why the Rockets franchise will increase in value, assuming our lack luster performance doesn't change our broadcasting contracts and attendance. Somehow, I find that highly unlikely.

b) If Brooks is a better point guard than Kyle Lowry, then Brooks needs to be at least comparable as a defender and as a passer, while remaining a better scorer (which was true at the time he was traded).

Consider this possibility. If he was either, Nash would not be playing 35 minutes a game. If Brooks could spell Nash to run the offense and get a few offensive stops, they would experiment with him running the team more. If their experiments yielded true, the ownership will trade Nash for future prospects, because they will lose him for nothing this summer. As it stands, if Nash leaves, the Suns offense will fall apart. They will start losing games. The ownership cannot afford the losses right now. This is why Nash is still where he is. Which implies that at least two NBA teams have decided that Aaron Brooks is decidedly not even a part time alternative to Nash or Lowry as a starting point for a mediocre NBA team.

Maybe he does? I was just grinning at "well cause that guy said so" as a justification.

Maybe I was being trolled, but it was a pretty crappy one if so.

Morey is not the guy holding us back from tanking, Les is

The people who write in newspaper comments are even dumber and more pathetic than people who post on /b/ and Kobe fanboys.
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?
