The Official FIRE DAVID STERN Thread

Go away!

You're only 69, there's plenty of time left in your undead pseudo-life to go do bloodsucking lawyer-type things elsewhere. Think about how nice it'd be to sell timeshares in Orlando! It's nice and sunny... wait, that'd probably melt your face. You could move to Seattle, they love you there! Where better to be a lawyer than in a place that has so much joy for your countenance? You could walk down the street in a mink coat twirling a diamond-studded cane and throwing xeroxed copies of Jim McIlvaine contracts around. Think how much spring that'd put in your gait! It'd be more fun than rigging the 1985 draft, and you know it.

SERIOUSLY, GO AWAY. AND TAKE BOB DELANEY WITH YOU, YOU FAT F***HEAD.

Have you SEEN Adam Silver? They should just call him 'The Fish' and give him a screen printed t-shirt with this:

Dude's about 0% imposing. Looks like he just finished filling out 20 years worth of tax forms.

I bet he'd make a good IRS agent though... He probably has a full wing of his house devoted to the art of rubber stamping.

What Stern did, in trying to "protect" New Orleans, was to effectively devalue the franchise by a factor of 3. Because now they can't just trade CP3 elsewhere. That'd be begging for a lawsuit. So he'll just walk.

And there goes any remaining value the franchise had.

David Stern, you are not a chess player.

And you are no gentleman.

He was trying to act in the owners' interests, with the problem being that the owners don't have a damn clue about anything past the tips of their noses. They should be considering the sale of NOH in the same way they'd consider selling their own teams, which I don't believe typically involves "kill every salary on the team to minimize operating costs until the damn thing can be dumped at whatever price makes itself available".

I just noticed that if you look at the old Dantian wood carving illustration of Lucifer gnawing on Judas, Brutus, and Cassius; there's a small figure standing under the wings that looks suspiciously like David Stern holding a pepper mill and an empty plate.

It's not fun to be despondent. It is through no fault of our own management. It sucks, but as a fan base we should remain vigilant. There is still plenty to do.

Stern needs to go, but the ownership wanted everyone to have a good run at Paul in 6 months, instead of giving the Lakers a head start to extend. In the past, the ownership and the players have existed mostly amicably because of financial arrangements proctored by him and his staff. It is only a matter of time that the players, with outside help, start their own, more organized version of this years summer leagues themselves. They'll orchestrate to push back camp dates, shorten the season and try and divest themselves of this entanglement if they get anymore unhappy. The NBPA can, and probably decertify once more, and become a trade organization. This time though, it will remain that way.

The stereotype of a black basketball player who comes from poor and is happy with a 7 figure income is extremely out of date. Many players suffered hardships, yes yes, but many more do just fine in college and have managed to attain above average cerebral capabilities. Many of the better locker room leaders and presences would have been excellent managers and speakers in other arenas of employment, and no doubt would have succeeded in whatever they were passionate about.

If there is any justice, in 6 years, the basketball business will see a new business model where the product and the management are one body. The resellers, the land lords that own the arenas, will be another, and the team ownership exists only as the middle men they really are. I was willing to forgive the situation of the lock out, the games people played and ignored the fan base. This Chris Paul business is bold faced cheating that would make Arnold Rothstein blush. Stern's 'legacy' belongs in infamy, alongside the likes of Donaghy and Abe Attell. He was on his way out anyway, but if there is a good chance he'll live to see the league as we know it, give way to a new one. His lifes work dissolved, and the bodies buried, float to the surface. That will be what Stern ought to be remembered for.

While I hear your post, the words of despondence aversion fall on deaf ears.
I do hope he sees his life's work crumble though .. it'd be a fine payment for his .. lacking adjectives. It's a shame you have to have a soul to care.

I am seriously hoping that the NBPA gets its act together and builds some true leverage for the next negotiation. Sorry Les, sorry Cube, but these **** need to go.

Man, I was pissed when I wrote the last couple of posts.

Woops.

Sorry to give a downer to everyone. Grief loves company, but I did not mean to irrigate sadness.

Oh and UH lost its coach to the aggies as soon as he proved that his head wasn't stuck up his ass.
