Hou/GSW trade

Post#1 » by Alex I Be » Tue Feb 21, 2012 10:52 pm

How about swapping Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill for Monta Ellis.

This gives Golden State some post scoring they need in Scola, a good scorer in Martin, and some defense in Hill.

Houston gets close to a star they've been waiting for in Monta Ellis. Great consistent player day in and out.

And FYI, Dwight Howard did say last year he wanted the Magic to pursue a trade for Monta Ellis......IM JUST SAYING!!!

Klay Thompson is Kevin Martin 2.0

Monta makes 11 million. Martin + Scola + Hill make 22 million
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

whats the difference between Monta and Martin? I mean Monta maybe a better distributor and finisher but Martin is a better shooter. I don't see much difference in value.

Monta is a go to scorer and he's consistent. For whoever said they have curry he would start at point and martin would start @ sg. Anyways it's too much to give up for monta due to his defensive shortcomings. The biggest problem with monta is his size, I'd LOVE to have a player like him especially with the shooters we have on our team but he can't defend the 2.

Monta Ellis has 680 career steals in 404 games played for 1.7 career avg.
Kevin Martin has 443 career steals in 466 games played for 1.0 career avg

Monta Ellis has 1,107 career turnovers in 404 games played for 2.74 career avg.
Kevin Martin has 846 career turnovers in 466 games played for 1.82 career avg.

So you get more steals and assists with Ellis but more turnovers
Martin gives you much better three point shooting and free throw shooting.

Man defense they are probably equal.

as i said, i don't really see much difference in value. monta may be a better scorer but he lacks in defense the same as martin and there isn't much upside in having monta over martin. what im saying is its not much of an upgrade if any, we would still be the same team.

^^exactly, we would only be marginally better with monta

reallly if we trade scola, martin and hill just for monta we'd be worse off. patterson hasnt proved to be more effecting at the starting 4 than scola. w/ no backup center we need anything hill can bring. since most of our pts come from jumpers, we need good 3pt shooters and ellis is a career 32% from 3.

Comparing Ellis and Martin's t/o makes no sense because Ellis always has the ball in his hands. I'd still take him over martin if he wasn't so small. Players who get to the hoop do a lot more for an offense than "shooters". Would I make the trade hell no, just saying

The difference between the two is that Monta would give us a scorer down the stretch and be a closer.

They they save us an additional 9 mil for 2012. Anyways it would not even work money wise. Only problem to me is there is a glaring hole in the 4 spot

Not since they drafted Steph Curry.
