Deron Williams would be the ultimate free agent target, obviously, but I believe he'll be beyond our reach. Also, I think Nash would rather take MLE-level money to go to Miami than $8-10M to go to Indiana, so my guess is he's out of the picture. That leaves Dragic as the top choice.
Is Houston looking to have a sizable amount of capspace in the offseason, and if so, will they really want a luxury like Dragic (backup PG) taking a large portion of the capspace when there are more pressing needs elsewhere?
I can see Indy offering him $8-9M per-season, as well as the starting job. Would Houston be willing to top that?
Are you guys not happy with Collison? He is doing a good job right?
He's been o.k. He's reasonably efficient, he's just too limited. He has sub-par point guard instincts, is small, and plays timidly. He's somewhere between the middle-to-bottom of the pack of starting point guards, and is probably best served as a spark plug off the bench. We have George Hill (currently starting), but he's about 80/20, SG/PG.
Deron Williams is probably out of our range, and Steve Nash would probably rather go to Miami for the MLE than come here. That leaves Dragic as the next-best option (although I'd probably take him over Nash due to age), so I expect him to be our primary free agent target.
I think we'll offer Dragic around $6-8M per-season, and the starting job on the East's current #3 seed, which is a pretty attractive offer, I'd think.
