Any Interest in Josh Smith?

Curious what you'd give us for Smith?

We'd like something like Lowry/Dalembert/1st rounder probably.

Smith is 7 (8?) years in the league now? He's always been known as a player who relies on athleticism. I don't think that he is at a point in his career where I'd want to give up too much for him. This offer definitely asks for too much.

He also doesn't strike me as the "finisher" type we should be looking for if we're shopping Lowry.

True to some extent. If a coach could get him to stop shooting so many jumpers, though, he could be sick for years to come.

Would we be able to snag Lowry if we took K-Mart instead of Dalembert?

No. You actually just asked for much more.

Despite the....frustration that many Rockets fans have with Martin, the fact remains that a 12M expiring contract in this CBA will have some value. You are asking the Rockets for their best player, a huge expiring contract and a draft pick for a guy on a longer contract and whose game relies on declining athleticism.

If the Rockets are going to give up a package like that then they need a player back who can be "the guy" on the team who closes it out and commands that last shot.

I did not just describe Josh Smith.

Sorry, but you are asking for far more than the Rockets would give for him.

I would only trade for Smith if we got Howard. Ideally I would offer:

Lowry/Dalembert/Montie/Morris/#14 for Howard

Martin for Iguodala

Scola / Budinger / #16 for Smith

Dragic / Llull
Lee / (vet min)
Iggy / Parsons
Smith / Patterson
Howard / Camby

I'd be good with those, Lars; but I'd prefer it if we could swap Motie for Patterson in that first deal.

nice pipe dream you got there. that would be a sick defensive oriented team. i agree with mr e, swap motie for pat. and i'd put parsons as the backup 2/3. i know he wants to add weight this offseason, but he's young enough to stay with sgs. the vet min sg would be insurance.

lee however isnt a starting sg. he has a hard time hitting wide open shots consistently. should be working on that this offseason

what a surprise you guys hate josh smith. You mean the best player the hawks have that led them to a 40-26 record without Al Horford? The criticism you guys are using against him may have been valid when talking about the OLD JOSH SMITH. Yea he does take ill advised shots but dude is a very good player on BOTH sides of the ball. We currently have one of those... kyle lowry. I wouldn't give up lowry for him but I'd love to have him, he'd be the second best player on our team and add another dimension to the team. You guys are in love with parsons but smith is a better athlete, better scorer, better defender, better shot blocker and he can play two positions with ease.....

Martin, Bud/Patterson & 14 is as high as I'd go. No to Lowry.

Undersized

Dumb

Can't shoot and his reliance on athleticism means his game won't age well

3 strike for jsmith.

I don't care what anybody says about his perceived toughness or bad contract, I rather have pau gasol any day. Skilled 7 footer don't grow on trees.
