Looks like we got rocketsballin back after all!

Good looking out y'all. :) Also thanks to all the Mods involved for being reasonable.

Looks like persistency did pay off this time. Let's hope it will for the Rockets as well.

so what is the timeline to trade a player that we traded for during free agency? say we get howard on july 1st and he doesn't sign an extension by january or so, are we able to even allowed to trade or at least entertain offers that soon?

Magic have fired Otis Smith and Stan Van Gundy so maybe Howard stays.

I don't see any reason why we couldn't trade him after 3 months after signing.
Nuggets resigned Nene in Dec 2011 and traded him March 2012.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Yeah, i forgot about Nene...i do think Howard is leaning more toward staying since SVG and OS are gone, but the RealGM headline today says he still wants to be traded.

Did anyone catch 790am with Charlie Palillo earlier in the week around 5pm...i caught the tail end of his conversation saying something that the Rockets would do a deal with Magic for Lowry, Parsons, Scola and some pick which i agree to get Howard. Some fan said they wouldn't do it, but Charlie said that would be a no-brainer....did anyone catch the start of that topic or conversation?

I could see that...

It sucks to throw Parsons in there... a lot. Other than him, you have Scola, who may have possibly turned into a 9m bad contract after his injury/surgery last year, Lowry, who is a very good contract so far, and Parsons, who is talent for Howard, who will be 27 next season.

You get (potentially) 5 years of a very, very good (but not quite great) C for Parsons + a very good but not quite great PG on a very good contract. I'd try and talk them down a bit from Parsons, if that's really the crux. (or maybe they could send back Ryan Anderson ;) oh wait, they fired Otis...)

I know everyone hates Howard right now, but he seems like a nice guy. If you ever wonder how he screwed up so badly in Orlando, nice guys don't necessarily get politics (rely on their niceness and a hope that things will work out to get them through things instead, and leave politics up to other people), and he was in an extended crappy situation. Extended crappy situations move EVERYONE to want to do something, but a nice guy in an important position won't know what the heck to do because he now needs to be political. It's mostly the same thing that happened to LeBron, really, only worse because I don't think Dwight's as smart as LeBron is. He also didn't want to be the next LeBron, which I'm sure just ended up confusing the crap out him.

This results in one or two things, learning some basic politics (usually after the fact) and/or creating a huge clustermuck. We'll see if he picked up the former any.

lot of team, especially playoff team, will all be bidding for Howard
unfortunately for us, we don't have lot of piece to offer
they don't need Scola
they have Anderson (ready for new contract), Big Baby (already more than MLE)
they also have lot of big contract like Turkoglu
don't think they want any contract back
one advantage we have is we have cap space and we can take some of those contract off their hand
if that is the case we will have problem keeping Dragic and Lee
unless we get #1 overall pick
if we get real lucky and end up with the #1 pick
do you want to trade that for Dwight Howard? (assume he signed the extension)

we'll know our draft position in 5 days.
we can't make trades until after the playoffs.
If we get #1 pick I'd rather keep Davis than Howard

Am I the only person who isn't too worried what happens to Lee?

If we get him, fine, if not, fine. He's decent, but not that awesome and is easily replaced, imo.
Less so with Dragic. If we get rid of Lowry, we need to try and keep Dragic, otherwise, as a UFA, he's a non-asset.

I want Jesus to anoint Morris as the Second Coming so his pick can be justified. I still have no idea why he's on this team.

if we trade Lowry then no doubt, we are keeping Dragic. I'm pretty confident we keep one of those two.

that would be the exception, but other than that, we are keeping one of those two.

I agree, I was actually a little disappointed with how inconsistent Lee was a starter.

With Otis Smith gone I wonder if ORL is still a threat to offer Lee a contract.
They do have Jason Richardson and JJ Redick at $6 Million each next year to play SG.
I'm sure someone will offer him something before we do since Dragic is our priority.

Personally, i wouldn't give up scola if we didn't have to. He was the go to guy if we had a scoring drought. There is a reason teams doubled him whenever we couldn't score. I would like to see if we can give the Magic an expiring deal in Kevin Martin instead of Scola. So basically, Lowry, Parsons, Martin, Morris, and 1st round pick for a 'rental' of Howard. Since it is a 'rental', i have a feeling the Rockets won't take Hedo or Richardon's contract back. I think teams that Howard will sign extensions immediately(Lakers, Mavs, etc.) will definitely have to take like Hedo or Richardson's contract. Not sure if the Lakers or Mavs are willing to do that for cap reasons especially since the Mavs want Deron too. That is why i don't think the Magic will send Howard to the Lakers for Bynum(Magic want multiple players) in addition to them just getting one player too plus the fact that they are probably not going to build their franchise around one guy who is one knee injury away from being a career ending one. The only concern that might drop Howard's value is his back...his rehab will be the key in the coming several months.

I think Rockets need to hire Olajuwon as a 'consultant' this summer... ..have him make a few calls to Howard about expanding his game even more...
